POSITION DESCRIPTION

The main duties include but are not limited to:

Define scope of technical programs and develop effective quality solutions to challenges which involve unique or controversial problems. Creatively meet all company and industry requirements and apply site systems to achieve quality timely and cost-effective results. Give quality guidance and assistance to less senior professionals on related tasks

Apply technical experience in field of specialization or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields to resolve complex problems

Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning

Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s of technical expertise

Provide direction and position responsibility both inside and outside department lines on programs seeking new approaches to problems and new application of existing engineering or scientific principles

Evaluate the results of programs and prepares reports and recommendations based on these evaluations

Prepare plans including schedules budgets and personnel requirements for solving technical tasks identified by management

Develop schedules monitor progress monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed

Communicate results and objectives verbally and in manuscripts form to customers colleagues and management

Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures problem solving engineering reports technical papers and articles

Occasionally prepare reports for external publication.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Ph.D. degree in applicable science or engineering discipline and 5 years experience. OR A MS with 8 years experience. OR A BS with 10 years experience or more

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate must demonstrate ten (10) years of design experience in the nuclear or chemical process industry and possess a working knowledge of NEC IES NFPA IEEE and OSHA requirements.

Candidate must have experience using software (preferably ETAP) to generate electrical system calculations

Candidate must be able to perform weekly field walk downs of the job site for the engineering work being performed. These walk downs may involve construction sites with uneven surfaces and work in progress walking for distances of over half a mile climbing of ladders to access remote areas dressing out in protective clothing and environments where a respirator is required

Provide design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis construction support walkdowns design development and generation of design output documents including but not limited to: Single Line Drawings; Electrical Equipment Lists; Control

System Design; Control Schematics and Connection Diagrams; Electrical Equipment Specifications; Bulk Material Specifications; Circuit/Raceway/Wiring/Connection Design; Grounding; Heat Tracing; Fire Detection; Short Circuit Calculations; Arc Flash Incident Energy Analysis; Load Flow Analysis; and Electrical System Sizing Calculations

Ability to work in a diverse work environment

Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening which includes a background check and drug screening

Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Previous experience on DOE sites and programs

Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years is preferred

Previous SRS Design Engineering or DOE facility experience is preferred

Proficiency in using MicroStation 2D Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) software is preferred.

Aiken South Carolina

Duration of the Contract One year with two renewal year options

Estimated Hours Per Year 2080 ST / 800 OT

Work Schedule 4/10s or 9/80s

100% onsite Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidates expense.
