Job Description

Primary Purpose:

In cooperation with and approval by the Texas Education Agency and the TXMEP Systems Initiative Grant provide Helpdesk support organize program documents and maintain resources of the Title I Part C Texas Migratory Education Program (TXMEP) Systems Initiative for Texas.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification

  • High School graduate or GED required
  • Associates degree preferred

Skills

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish/English preferred
  • Migrant Education Program experience is highly preferred
  • Three years job-related experience preferred
  • Effective in the areas of communication and collaboration required
  • Effective long-term planning time management and organization skills required
  • Broad knowledge of Texas Migrant Education Program System components highly preferred: TxNGS MSIX ID&R Certificates of Eligibility
  • Demonstrated excellence in a wide variety of technology applications
  • Self-motivated and customer service oriented with strong public/human relations and time management skills
  • Demonstrated excellence in communication skills
  • Effective planner and problem solver strong interpersonal skills and creative abilities

Working Conditions:

  • Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
  • Posture: Must be physically able to tolerate prolonged sitting frequent standing; occasional bending/stooping pushing/pulling twisting and standing
  • Motion: Must be physically able to tolerate frequent standing and walking repetitive hand motions frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching occasional driving
  • Lifting: Must be physically able to tolerate regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); may require occasional heavy lifting and carrying (45 pounds or more); packing loading and unloading for conferences and events
  • Environment: Must be physically able to work inside; tolerate occasional region wide travel and statewide travel; regular exposure to noise
  • Mental Demands: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; work prolonged or irregular hours on occasion
  • Regular Attendance is an essential function of this position.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Assists the Coordinator and Lead as the TXMEP Systems Initiative Assistant in the organization and support of all TXMEP Initiative deliverables.
  2. Collaborates with the TXMEP Systems team to create and maintain Identification and Recruitment (ID&R) course completion records for Title I Part C recruiters across the state and updates individual recruiter certifications within TX-NGS annually.
  3. Reviews ID&R materials and resources in collaboration with the Coordinator and Lead assisting with timely updates to the ID&R manual.
  4. Facilitates focus group meetings related to ID&R Texas New Generation System (TX-NGS) and Out-of-School Youth (OSY) through calendar invites member communication meeting minutes and follow-up.
  5. Collaborates with Lead to develop and maintain a searchable FAQ document for ID&R available to Title I Part C recruiters.
  6. Serves as the first point of contact for ESCs related to the TXMEP System Initiative and the TXMEP Helpdesk.
  7. Provides technical assistance and support to ESCs on ID&R TX-NGS and MSIX topics.
  8. Assists users in prompt and efficient responses to ID&R and TX-NGS related questions received through the TXMEP Helpdesk. Escalates questions to Lead Coordinator TEA and/or TXNGS vendor as needed.
  9. Creates TX-NGS MSIX and recruiter accounts and troubleshoots current user account issues including updates and password resets.
  10. Assists the Coordinator and Lead in gathering and maintaining data from recruiter assessments Helpdesk requests and Focus Group members and using this data to assist in developing tools publications training resources and statewide workshops/trainings (in person and via online platforms) for ESCs and MEP recruiters.
  11. Collaborate with MEP Capacity Building Initiative to add and update resources on the TMEP web portal.
  12. Attends weekly meetings with TEA TX-NGS Vendor and TXMEP Systems Initiative team to communicate status of projects and areas of concern/feedback
  13. Travels as requested by TEA to fulfill TXMEP Systems Initiative responsibilities.
  14. Maintains a functioning cell phone and is accessible through this phone as deemed appropriate by the service area director. A functioning cell phone means that it is charged activated messages checked and mailbox emptied regularly.
  15. Reports for work ready to perform responsibilities.
  16. Performs duties that directly and/or indirectly impact student performance in Region 16.
  17. Maintains a professional level of confidentiality regarding all ESC matters.
  18. Supports the mission goals and objectives of the ESC strategic plan.
  19. Upholds and adheres to safety rules and policies of the ESC safety program.
  20. Performs professional responsibilities as required by ESC policies processes and procedures.
  21. Manages time calendar and job responsibilities to meet deadlines.
  22. Meets proficiency levels of required technology skills as outlined by the supervisor.
  23. Incorporates appropriate technology in daily work and exhibits continual growth in technologies as outlined by supervisor.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.
