The Role
The Futures team is a new and exciting external facing function within UCLPartners. Its primary role is to design and shape the future of health and care innovation. Through strategic engagement horizon scanning and thought leadership the Futures team aims to identify emerging trends influence health policy and convene high-profile events that spark transformative ideas and action.
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinkingProject Manager who enjoys connecting ideas and people to join our Futures team. This is a new and unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in embedding futures thinking across UCLPartners and our partners and to help drive our ambitious external engagement forward.
The successful post holder will build on UCLPartners existing capabilities and play a key role in designing high-impact events focused on the future of health and emerging technologies positioning UCLPartners as an influential thought leader at the forefront of health innovation.
This role is suited to a motivated individual with a passion for innovation a pro-active mindset and the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Director of Futures in scoping and conducting horizon scanning identifying emerging trends best practices and innovative approaches. This includes exploring the future landscape of healthcare and innovation drawing on global insights and expertise from leading experts.
- Contribute to the development of a comprehensive horizon scanning strategy aligned to UCLPartners corporate objectives.
- Plan deliver and manage high-impact events workshops and consensus conferences including collaboration with UCL on the IGNITE summit series engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders across disciplines and geographies to spark dialogue and gather insights on innovation and health trends.
- Identify and explore strategic relationships with think tanks policy leaders and sector influencers to enhance UCLPartners visibility and thought leadership.
- Establish robust processes for monitoring scientific technological and health-related developments to inform our work.
- Analyse data and emerging trends to produce insightful reports that shape UCLPartners strategic priorities and business development opportunities.
- Represent UCLPartners at relevant foresight and futures conferences / events increasing awareness of our expertise in this area
- An understanding of how we support patient and public involvement in our work

You
- Outstanding relationship management skills and experience with a values-based approach to engaging with experts and system leaders and ability to build networks
- Ability to leverage resources to carry out horizon scanning activities and foresight research
- Experience in high quality event design and delivery particularly in convening cross-sector audiences to drive consensus and action
- Excellent report drafting synthesis and analysis skills from external engagement activities for a range of senior stakeholders
- Good knowledge in foresight methodologies research and analysis
- Interest in health innovation and emerging technologies trends
- Ability to communicate complex topics to diverse audiences and collaborate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to present across various formats and settings
- Ability to work autonomously prioritising organising and planning own workload to consistently deliver accurate and detail-oriented outputs
- Experience or ability of setting up and managing multiple concurrent engagement projects in a fast-paced and changing environment and seeing them through to successful completion
- Ability to build credibility foster strong relationships and influence colleagues and stakeholders
- Ability to utilise excellent analytical and judgement skills deciding best strategies and course of action in challenging situations to secure effective delivery and benefit of outcomes
- Sound judgement and astuteness in understanding and working with complex policy and diverse interest groups
- Proficient in use of MS Office (including basic Excel analysis) with an ability to quickly get up to speed with and effectively use a range of systems and web applications including customer relationship management systems.

Job details
The Project Manager will report to the Director of Futures. The role is a full-time permanent position with a 37.5 hour work week. The remuneration for this post is competitive depending on experience with a salary range of 46350 to 61800 per annum.
We offer flexible working arrangements and support hybrid working at UCLPartners. All staff will typically spend a minimum of 40% of their working time at the UCLPartners office i.e. for a minimum of 2 days/week if full-time or 40% of your working time for part-time staff. This can be averaged over a 3-month period.
As part of our benefits package employees are entitled to 27 days of annual leave (plus bank holidays) company pension (employer contribution 10% of annual salary) life assurance coverage cycle to work scheme travel season ticket loans and flexible working.
