Position Summary / Career Interest:
The Lead Housekeeper assists the EVS Manager by performing any job in the department and leading co-workers in performing their assignments especially the training of new employees. A Lead Housekeeper is a role model in technical skills behavior and compliance with department processes. The Lead Housekeeper can be assigned to various roles and tasks which can differ daily to assist in the successful completion of daily operations of the EVS/Housekeeping Department. The Lead Housekeeper must understand and be effective with having responsibility for communicating instructions from the supervisor to the housekeeping staff without having authority to enforce compliance from the staff. Lead Housekeepers are expected to always exhibit the highest work standards attendance behavior and work ethic even when not performing lead activities.

Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Must be able to perform the professional clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.
- Assist the Supervisors and Manager with the day to day operations of the EVS Department. Follows the hospitals professional standards.
- Can perform all other department jobs as listed in their job descriptions (this may or may not include floor maintenance or floor project work).
- Ensures that Housekeepers are responding appropriately and in a timely manner to all communication methods including pages and/or radio messages.
- Ensures that Housekeepers complete their assigned daily tasks. Serve as additional back-up to perform all daily tasks of Housekeepers.
- Serves as a resource for employees and management in the absence of the Supervisor.
- Brings ideas/concerns to the Supervisor and participates in department decision-making.
- Trains and coaches current and new staff to meet department and organization standards.
- Examples of daily responsibilities include: checking out/in keys pagers; cleaning cloths and mops and cleaning carts; distributing/collecting chemicals equipment paper and plastic supplies; monitoring Soiled Linen Collection area during and at end of shift; working knowledge of basic floor care equipment (vacuums dustmops carpets); conducting 2-3 checks on staff in assigned area; checking and responding to email daily; helping to maintain supply rooms chemical rooms and equipment storage areas; assisting staff with equipment reporting any issues immediately to the supervisor; immediately reporting all employee issues and concerns to the Manager/Supervisor; and monitoring projects and assignments during shift.
- Assists with keeping Housekeepers informed of departmental changes health system current events etc.
- Assists Supervisor and Manager with department planning reporting projects and initiatives as assigned.
- Exhibits compliance with the hospital Professional Image Standards as a model for housekeepers especially in the areas of attitude performance and competency.
- Must be able to perform the professional clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Preferred Education and Experience
- High School Graduate or GED.
Knowledge Requirements
- Basic computer proficiency.
