To provide comprehensive counseling services to support the academic social-emotional and career development of all students across the district. The District Counselor collaborates with school staff families and community partners to ensure that students needs are met and that all students have equitable opportunities for success.
Education/Certification:
Masters degree in Counseling or related field
Valid Texas School Counselor Certification
Experience:
Minimum 3 years of successful counseling experience preferred
Experience working across multiple grade levels (elementary middle and/or high school)
Strong knowledge of mental health practices and school support systems
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Understanding of state and federal education laws and ethical standards related to counseling
Excellent communication collaboration and organizational skills
Ability to analyze student data and support intervention strategies
Knowledge of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) Section 504 and special education processes
Develop implement and oversee a districtwide comprehensive guidance and counseling program.
Provide direct counseling services to students including individual group and crisis counseling.
Serve as a lead in crisis intervention and provide support during emergency situations.
Work with administrators staff and families to provide appropriate mental health referrals and community resources.
Support students experiencing barriers to learning including trauma behavioral concerns or family disruptions.
Provide consultation to teachers administrators and parents regarding student needs and effective support strategies.
Facilitate professional development for staff related to mental health trauma-informed practices SEL and student behavior.
Support Section 504 and MTSS processes at a district level as assigned.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in compliance with district policy and legal standards.
Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of counseling services and make program adjustments.
Prepare reports and documentation as required for state accountability grants or program evaluations.
