POSITION SUMMARY:
- The Elementary Interventionist for Specialized Student Populations provides targeted instructional support to meet the diverse learning needs of students with a focus on multilingual learners (MLs/ELLs) gifted and talented students and other identified groups requiring differentiated services. This position delivers individualized and small-group interventions collaborates with classroom teachers to design inclusive instructional strategies and ensures equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities. The Interventionist plays a key role in promoting academic growth language development and enrichment across the elementary level.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Elementary Interventionist for Specialized Populations:
- Provides direct academic intervention for students performing below at or above grade level including multilingual learners and gifted and talented students. *
- Delivers small-group and individualized instruction tailored to student strengths needs and learning goals. *
- Supports language development and academic vocabulary acquisition for English Learners. *
- Implements evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions aligned with student data. *
- Partners with classroom teachers to co-plan and support differentiated instruction. *
- Participates in data team meetings to identify student needs monitor progress and adjust interventions. *
- Consults with specialists (ELL teachers G/T coordinators special education staff) to ensure coordinated services. *
- Assists in developing individualized learning plans for identified students. *
- Builds positive relationships with students and families to support learning goals. *
- Provides equity in the classroom by providing equal opportunity for students regardless of race sex gender identity sexual orientation background and abilities. *
- Communicates with and constantly strives to maintain a positive relationship with students and parents. *
- Promotes culturally and linguistically responsive practices that honor student backgrounds. *
- Manages student behavior in the classroom. *
- Maintains accurate records of interventions delivered and student progress. *
- Uses assessment data to monitor the effectiveness of interventions and inform instructional adjustments. *
- Ensures interventions align with district policies and state/federal requirements for targeted student populations. *
- Assists in completing state ELL testing requirements. *
- Follows the policies and procedures of the school(s) and the *
- Responds appropriately to student behavior in the total school environment by enforcing school rules in hallways on the grounds and other areas of the school. *
- Participates in professional growth (such as professional organizations coursework workshops and conferences) and other professional activities (such as school and/or District committees taskforces in-depth studies or councils). *
- Demonstrates a sense of professional responsibility such as demonstrating ethical behavior; providing accurate data and reports when needed; meeting deadlines; maintaining confidentiality; caring for the equipment and materials; and dressing appropriately; exhibiting sensitivity to those with special needs; maintaining good professional relationships with parents and community members; and presenting a good role model. *

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Ability to use effective communication skills; strong content and pedagogical knowledge including ELL and G/T instructional strategies; knowledge of education law and regulations; ability to use time effectively; strong organizational skills; ability to maintain positive collaborative relationships with staff and supervisors; knowledge of child development and diverse learning needs; ability to lead meetings; and ability to help groups achieve consensus.
ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors Degree; certification from Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board with an endorsement in Elementary Education and English Language Learning.
Work Experience: At least 3 years of experience as an elementary teacher. Spanish language skills strongly preferred.
Applied Experience: Experience in project-based learning STEM place-based instruction arts integration or similar enrichment areas.
Familiarity with scheduling and program coordination in a school setting.
