Job Summary:

The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator is a Boston-based 12-month Contract Faculty leadership position. The University employs this individual who reports to the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs for the School of Nursing (SON). The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator is responsible for supervising the Director of Pre-Licensure Nursing Clinical Education (on-site and off-site) the Director of the Dotson Bridge & Mentoring Program and the Pre-Licensure Nursing Faculty. The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator will have full-time administrative responsibilities for the pre-licensure nursing program. Collaborating with the Pre-Licensure Directors Graduate Directors Associate Dean and the Dean of the SON the Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator ensures academic rigor and curricular alignment of the pre-licensure nursing programs while meeting the needs of current and prospective students and aligning with the overall vision and standards of the school of nursing the standards of the Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and Boards of Nursing.

The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator is responsible for supporting program design development and delivery to create an optimal student experience and achieve desired student outcomes. In collaboration with a core team across several functional areas of the University (Strategic Initiatives Student Financial Services Admissions Registrar Technology Finance and Legal) and as applicable in collaboration with Simmons strategic partner 2U the Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator must focus on several areas of the program to ensure quality: accre itation curriculum faculty student support operations and profitability.

The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator also serves as the designated Program Administrator subject to approval from the Massachusetts Board of Nursing.

Curriculum Management Responsibilities:

  • Oversees the pre-licensure nursing program in collaboration with the Dean Associate Dean Chair for Graduate Nursing Programs Director of Pre-Licensure Nursing Clinical Education Director of Dotson Bridge & Mentoring Program pre-licensure Nursing Advisor(s) and the pre-licensure faculty;

  • Monitors and maintains academic policies within the SON;

  • Ensures that the academic rigor of the curriculums are in alignment with applicable Board of Nursing requirements and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials;

  • Reviews evaluates and recommends course offerings and course sizes in collaboration with the Operations Team pre-licensure faculty the Director of Pre-Licensure Nursing Clinical Education the Chair for Graduate Nursing Programs the Associate Dean and the Dean;

  • Promotes the development of interdisciplinary curricula and research;

  • Advocates and supports faculty and students in research and scholarship activities;

  • Coordinates and leads faculty mentoring and faculty development programs;

  • Oversees adherence to professional standards and best practices in the curriculum in consultation with the Dean the Associate Dean the Directors and the faculty;

  • In consultation with the Dean and Associate Dean ensures that all requirements for the pre-licensure program accreditation standards are being met;

  • Participates in the SON accreditation and/or Board approval activities;

  • Develops monitors and oversees the implementation of the pre-licensure SON program evaluation plans in collaboration with the Dean Associate Dean Directors and Operations team.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the welfare of the pre-licensure programs through managing and planning budgets in coordination with the SON Dean Associate Dean Directors and Operations Director;

  • Monitors faculty workload in conjunction with the program directors to ensure compliance with University policies and SON needs;

  • Ensures that the annual review process is completed for the Director of Pre-Licensure Nursing Clinical Education the Director of the Dotson Bridge & Mentoring Program and the pre-licensure faculty;

  • Provides leadership in supporting conditions conducive to the improvement of the overall infrastructure of the SON through the maintenance of effective systems and processes;

  • Facilitates SON meetings in conjunction with support staff;

  • Maintains active responsive and positive communication with SON program directors faculty staff and other University members;

  • Assists the Dean and Associate Dean in maintaining a culture of quality trust and accountability;

  • Works with the SON team to strengthen coordinate integrate and implement strategic goals established by the SON.

Management Responsibilities Including Student-Facing:

  • Serves as a resource to liaise with Admissions 2U Student Affairs Accessibility Services Office of Advising Career Education Center clinical partners faculty and students;

  • Assists Program Directors with complex student issues;

  • Collaborates with the Associate Dean and Operations team in providing leadership for programming special events ceremonies and graduation celebrations;

  • Participates in the University-wide strategic planning as well as that of the SON;

  • Participates in the development of strong campus and community partnerships;

  • Provides visionary leadership for the SON in seeking grant-funded educational initiatives and partnerships;

  • Participates in the recruitment and admission of students;

  • Collaborates with the SON faculty and staff to coordinate student success initiatives as needed for the SON;

  • Promotes and supports innovative and interdisciplinary research and courses.

Faculty Management Role:

  • Oversees the faculty hiring processes (in collaboration with the Dean Operations Director Associate Dean HR and the Provosts Office) and promotes consistency and policy compliance strong candidate pools and success in the hiring of tenure and non-tenure stream clinical and adjunct faculty;

  • In concert with the Dean and Associate Dean manages and coordinates the pre-licensure faculty review processes including annual mid-point tenure promotion voucher and periodic developmental multi-year reviews (PDMYR);

  • Collaborates with the Dean Associate Dean and Directors on sensitive faculty dismissal processes as needed;

  • Advocates for equitable allocation of capital resources required to support faculty scholarship and student learning objectives consistent with professional standards and best practices (laboratory facilities instrument facilities etc);

  • Provides leadership and promotes professional development for faculty.

External Role:
Serves as a communication link in conjunction with the Dean Associate Dean Directors faculty University 2U and other external constituents including but not limited to employers alumni donors clinical partners and professional associations as they associate with the SON.

Other Duties:
Other responsibilities as determined by the Associate Dean or Dean.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Must have a Graduate degree in Nursing.

  • Must have a terminal degree in Nursing or a Health-related field (PhD DNP DNSc) or be enrolled or willing to enroll in a doctoral program.

  • 5-10 years of experience as faculty ideally including online experience.

  • 3 years of experience in administrative oversight and leadership of academic programs in higher education.

  • Ability to build and manage budgets.

  • Creative problem solver.

  • Strong and effective communicator.

  • Ability to motivate and build consensus among faculty.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues to strengthen coordinate integrate and implement the goals established by the pre-licensure programs and SON.

Terms of Service: The Pre-Licensure Nursing Program Administrator position is a 12-month Contract faculty position with administrative responsibilities. This is a Boston-based on-campus position.
