Head Middle School Basketball Coach
Job Description
Position Summary: The Head Coach of Basketball is responsible for initiating various aspects of the Basketball Program such as recruiting within the school scheduling opponents training and coaching team members. The Head Coach of Basketball is required to abide by the rules and regulations set by the Jasper County School District Board of Trustees.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain constant check of student athletes grades and conduct.
- Holds organizational meetings for team prospects and encourages potential athletes to participate in the sport.
- Assigns duties to assistant coaches.
- Recruit within school train and coach the members of the basketball program.
- Coordinate the development and promotion of the basketball program.
- Assesses players skill and assigns team positions.
- Organize and schedule practice sessions.
- Schedule games scrimmages with the approval of the Athletic Director.
- Determines game strategy based on the teams capabilities.
- Maintain and secure all basketball equipment and uniforms.
- Manage field care and maintenance.
- Administrative task including make sure eligibility and inventory is turned in on time.
- Hold a parents/guardians meeting with all student athletes parents/guardians before the first official game.
- Follows established procedures in the event of an athletes injury.
- Acts as a team representative and promotes the sport by communicating with news media booster club service clubs and other organizations.
- Represent JCSD and HRMS and the basketball program in a professional manner.
- Models nondiscriminatory practices in all activities.
Other Duties:
- Attends staff development meetings clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.
- Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal and Athletic Director or other appropriate administrator.
