II. Basic Function
The Renaissance Institute (RI) of NDMU offers an array of non-credit courses within a supportive social environment designed for the adult learner. The Director in collaboration with the RI Council oversees and manages the planning and day-to-day operations of the Institute including overseeing staff budget and the implementation of the Institutes goals and objectives. The Director shall serve as an ex-officio non-voting member on RI Council Committees and interface with the University and external stakeholders. The Director creates implements and maintains avenues to link RI and its members effectively with NDMU.
III. Essential Functions
- In collaboration with the RI Council oversees and manages the planning and day-to-day operations administrative academic budgetary marketing/recruitment and advancement of RI.
- Communicates with the RI Council Officers Committee Chairpersons and RI members in the implementation of programs and activities.
- Prepares the RI annual budget proposal with input and feedback from the RI Council and exercises oversight of the approved RI budget including signing authority for expenditures in accordance with the Universitys Signing Policy. Provides monthly NDMU general ledger and agency reports to the RI Council or designee(s).
- Represents RI in all public meetings general publications and relations with internal University and external stakeholders.
- Develops an annual marketing plan with input and feedback from the RI Council. Implements the marketing plan and oversees coordinates and/or prepares all RI marketing and outreach efforts in collaboration with NDMUs Offices of Marketing and Communications including brochures website traditional and social media and any other promotional materials.
- Oversees and assists in RI member registration and ensures registrations are entered into the NDMU system in a timely manner.
- Identify and pursue grants and other philanthropic sponsorship opportunities in consultation with the Office of Institutional Advancement to advance the mission and work of RI.
- Oversees and assists in providing technical and logistical support for RI instructors including classroom reservations setup IT functionality training and other logistical issues.
- Systematically collect and analyze RI data and other assessment information to continually evaluate inform and improve the planning processes and practices of RI.
- Serves as a liaison between the RI Council and the University including resolving issues accessing shared resources (IT Finance Marketing and Communications Public Safety etc.) integrating RI as member of the University community expanding RI member benefits and opportunities etc.
- Proactively create and market specific opportunities for members to interact as a part of the NDMU community with faculty staff and students.
- Serve as an ex-officionon-voting member of RI committees (except the Executive Committee) and assist the committees in the planning and execution of their responsibilities.
- Serve on University committees taskforces workgroups etc. as designated.
- Performs such similar comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required.
IV. Qualifications
Knowledge: Bachelors Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university required. Masters degree preferred.
Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of professional experience successfully leading a membership based organization and managing volunteers. Experience in a higher education setting and working with older adults is preferred. Supervisory experience is preferred.

- Ability to prioritize and perform multiple concurrent projects and deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Recognition of the needs of adult learners including the ability to communicate with and problem solve with RI members and volunteers.
- An appreciation and commitment to the history values and mission of NDMU and RI.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word Excel Outlook PowerPoint etc.) and Zoom required. Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g. Ellucian Colleague) preferred.
Working Conditions: Normal office environment (walking sitting climbing stairs reaching etc.). Some occasional moderate physical demands such as bending carrying kneeling lifting and pushing may be required Must be able to lift at least 20lbs.
