Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The VP Senior Claims Analyst is responsible for but not limited to overseeing the analysis and processing of claims under the applicable (re)insurance contracts performing claims audits providing analysis to underwriters and reserving actuaries and lead collaborative projects in support of other areas of the company including finance actuarial operations and technology. This role will lead with the preparation of management reporting on respective claims activities. In addition the VP Senior Claims Analyst works with the Underwriters on any claims related interactions with cedents and brokers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Actively handle claims arising from a variety of classes of business including Casualty Specialty and Property with a focus on highly complex matters.
  • Investigate handle and seek to resolve all claims in accordance with company standards and procedures.
  • Prioritises relationships with key brokers and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversight of claims systems ensuring they are kept up to date in a timely manner by team members. Seeks to modify and improve processes where required.
  • Promote compliance with best practice for all aspects of claims management.
  • Proactively shares relevant industry/business Knowledge to develop (re)insurance knowledge within team.
  • Leads Claims participation in renewal meetings with Underwriters as required.
  • Provide feedback to Underwriters from a Claims perspective.
  • Participate in client visits and audits.
  • Represent the company at market meetings and on market committees and actively seek out professional development opportunities.
  • Ensures all handled claims are properly processed and reserved. Ensures alignment and compliance with Global reserving practices and strategy.
  • Lead claims audits.
  • Support with evaluating training advising and mentoring the claims staff and providing technical expertise to the claims and underwriting process that will enable underwriters and actuaries to better assess and rate their contracts and submissions.
  • Contribute to senior claims leadership team and gains buy-in for global initiatives and strategic discussions

Strategic Projects

  • Seeks outs and explores new opportunities for process improvement and enhancement at the global level and propose solutions to improve the efficiency of the functional area.
  • Lead large global projects and important initiatives and workstreams specific to large global projects across multiple departments.

EXPECTED COMPETENCIES:

  • A university degree is required preferably with an emphasis on business finance or law; an advanced degree is advantageous.
  • A professional designation required (such as ACII/CPCU/AIC/ARe).
  • Proactively shares relevant industry/business knowledge and information across the company.

  • Prioritises external and internal client/stakeholder needs and ensures resources activities and behaviours are focused on achieving satisfaction and providing value.
  • Applies knowledge globally.
  • Experience communicating at the C-Suite and Board level
  • Proficiency in the use of computer applications (Microsoft Office Suite SCIS etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP other relevant GAAP or regulatory reporting requirements as applicable.
  • Experience with public companies SEC reporting and SOX 404 is required.
  • Strong background in business process reviews and analysis finance systems and internal controls

Additional requirements:

Candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and experience of claims handling processes and practices in addition to having a detailed understanding of the legal landscape relevant to their jurisdiction.

In addition candidates are required to have detailed knowledge and understanding both of technical claims matters and legal aspects for those jurisdictions where it anticipated claims will arise (US/Continental Europe/UK/Asia Pacific - dependent upon role location).
