Job Description Enterprise NOC Engineer (Core network)

About the Role

A key customer-facing role providing professional expertise on the day-to-day management of the customers strategic network and in the monitoring of the end customers IT Infrastructure devices. The Managed Services are bounded by stringent SLAs and as a NOC engineer you need to ensure you have to comply with the agreed SLAs with the customer. Ability to effectively operate and integrate into a customer environment showing strong interpersonal skills and a high degree of enthusiasm. Services utilizing dedicated StableNet monitoring and provisioning platform and individual OEM NMSs. This role will be one of a number of 24/7 shift roles including proactive communications with the customer.

Experience:

  • Undertake or support rapid restoration of Critical National Infrastructure (CNI) network fault resolution within SLA (and prior to critical Service failure where possible)
  • Take overall proactive responsibility for the technical support / issues arising within the CNI environment working with associated Service Desks to ensure the correct action for an incident is taken and posted to the correct resolving agency (with necessary diagnostics / impact assessments)
  • Investigate network problems identified using proactive (management) tools - where possible before critical Services are impacted
  • Ensure that incidents are escalated according to the Operational Procedures Document as required
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with key customer stakeholders
  • In case of incident assure trouble shooting analysis and all the repair actions including vendor support escalation to achieve service restoration of IP Network.
  • Perform proactive maintenance activities to prevent incidents and constantly optimize the network. Take corrective measures based on performance management and indicators trend analysis

Skills:

  • Very good knowledge of networking principles and protocols: IP technologies IP (Routing) BGP MPLS (option A/B/C) RR Layer 3 VPN IS-IS OSPF VPC.
  • Good knowledge of Core Switches Cisco Meraki Juniper Exterm LAN Draytek
  • Good knowledge of Firewall Cisco Palo-alto Firtinet ZScaler
  • Knowledge of monitoring systems like Stablenet is an advantage
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Good knowledge of spreadsheet reporting/creation
  • Experience in handling and working customer SLAs
  • Experience in working to deadlines and working under pressure.
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Must have experience in working on customer Switched networks
  • Please note that SC clearance will be required for this role. Candidates must demonstrate UK residency for a minimum of 5 years to be eligible.

Experience & Qualification:

Graduate or a Diploma in Telecom with 4-8 years of experience working with ISP or telcos in the Enterprise NOC

This is an office-based role and would be willing to work in a 24/7 environment based out of Birmingham
