Job Description

At Six Robotics we build intelligent software that gives Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) the ability to collaborate adapt on the fly and execute missions that were previously impossible. From our base in Oslo our 40 experts in defence software and AI develop Valkyrie our flagship autonomy and swarm platform used by both government and close partnership with the Norwegian Defence Research Establishment (FFI) we move fast from concept to live deployment often in the field alongside end users.

About the Role

Were about to onboard our very first customers a huge milestone for us and we need someone who can take full ownership of making that a success.

As our first Field Application Engineer youll be the technical bridge between customers and our product/engineering teams. Youll lead integrations run field and acceptance tests troubleshoot issues across hardware and software and make sure operators get the training and tools they need to succeed. This is a hands-on role where youll work directly with advanced systems in the field ensuring our technology performs when it matters most.

Your mission is clear: make every customer integration a success build the processes and documentation that will scale to future projects and help shape how Six Robotics delivers in the field. What You Will Do

  • Own customer integrations: take part in technical pre-sales lead onboarding capture requirements and ensure our swarm software is seamlessly integrated and fully operational.
  • Turn needs into plans: create integration steps checklists and test procedures that guide both customers and our teams.
  • Run field tests: plan and execute acceptance tests and trials analyze telemetry and feed results back into product improvements.
  • Troubleshoot issues: diagnose problems across hardware firmware networking and software and drive them to resolution.
  • Document and scale: write playbooks runbooks and reference materials to support customers and future field engineers.
  • Be the technical face in the field: deliver demos training and ongoing support building trust with operators and partners.


What We Are Looking For

Were looking for someone who thrives on juggling many moving parts while keeping a clear this role youll be the connector between customers partners and our own engineering team so being structured reliable and able to coordinate across many actors is essential. Youll need to be both technically confident and people-oriented: equally comfortable troubleshooting in the field as you are explaining complex issues to operators or aligning with a customers project manager. Since this role involves significant travel both nationally and internationally you should also enjoy being out in the field and working directly with end users.

Must-haves

  • Strong technical foundation: ability to set up networks and troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders and keep track of parallel workstreams in a structured way.
  • Clear and confident communicator with customers operators and internal teams.
  • Hands-on proactive approach comfortable rolling up your sleeves in the field.
  • Willingness to travel and work on-site with customers.
  • Fluent in English with Norwegian as a big plus. German or French skills are also appreciated.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with drones defence or aerospace systems.
  • Insight into how military organizations work (roles processes and decision-making structures).
  • Ability to code.
  • Background in computer science engineering or military/technical training. Relevant experience can compensate for formal education.

    Our Recruitment Process

    We aim to keep our process short and sweet but also thorough. As a small team every hire matters and we cant afford to get this one wrong.

    Heres what to expect:

    1. Screening interview with one of our recruiters to get to know you better (30 min).
    2. Meet & Greet with someone from the team to learn more about us (60 min).
    3. Structured case interview to get to know you even better (90 min).
    4. Final interview and a chance to meet with the management team (45 min).
    5. Reference check followed by an offer if everything goes well.

    Security Clearance Requirement

    All employees at Six Robotics are required to undergo a security clearance due to our close collaboration with the Norwegian Armed Forces. While prior clearance is not necessary the clearance process will be initiated as part of onboarding.
