Job Description
This role will involve working on a variety of design projects including mobile applications software interfaces and web-based platforms with a focus on the healthcare environment. As part of a cross-functional team you will not only design intuitive and visually appealing user interfaces but also contribute to the research process including test planning facilitating usability studies and writing reports. The ideal candidate will have experience with Figma be able to document designs clearly and thrive in a regulated environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- UX Design:
- Create intuitive user-centered design solutions for both mobile and software interfaces.
- Work on a variety of projects including caregiver communication systems nurse call applications and location-tracking software for inpatient environments.
- Ensure designs are responsive and adaptable across different devices including mobile phones and embedded interfaces.
- Documentation & Communication:
- Write detailed requirements and specifications for your designs (e.g. GUI specifications).
- Clearly document design decisions and processes to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate closely with developers product managers and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on design goals and deliverables.
- Research & Testing:
- Plan and facilitate usability tests to evaluate design concepts.
- Write test guides and reports based on research findings to improve design decisions.
- Contribute to the iterative design process by incorporating user feedback into future designs.
- Collaboration with Project Teams:
- Participate in regular meetings with product teams to review progress and prioritize work.
- Work in an agile environment providing design insights and iterations as required.
Key Requirements:
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in UX design (with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work).
- Experience designing for mobile applications websites and embedded interfaces.
- Familiarity with designing in regulated industries (medical healthcare or other highly regulated fields) is preferred but not required.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Figma is essential; experience with other design tools is a plus but Figma is the primary tool used within the team.
- Experience creating wireframes prototypes and high-fidelity designs.
- Knowledge of usability testing methods and tools.
- Communication & Documentation:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to document design decisions and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Ability to write clear and concise requirements and specifications.
- Education:
- Bachelors degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Human Factors UX Design or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Additional Skills:
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage complex design projects.
- Experience working in cross-functional teams and with agile methodologies.
- Ability to adapt and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the medical device or healthcare technology industry.
- Experience working on embedded interfaces or designing for hardware-software interaction.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards and compliance requirements for healthcare-related designs (e.g. FDA HIPAA).
