Job Description

The Uxbridge Public Schools seeks dynamic and student-centered individuals to provide academic and social/emotional support to students who participate in therapeutic classroom programs at the elementary and intermediate schools. These positions are assigned to work in our Therapeutic Learning Centers (TLC classrooms) to support the incremental inclusion of students in the general education settings as well as in more specialized include: Support students social emotional and academic growth within the therapeutic learning environmentContributing to the writing of Functional Behavioral AssessmentsData collection related to special education or behavior plan goalsImplementing behavior plansModeling and implementing aspects of a Behavior Intervention PlanAbility to implement and address concerns related to crisis interventionAcademic support within the TLC classroomProviding student support during lunch transitions and academic periodsProviding feedback and support to paraprofessionals and ABAs in the implementation of plan componentsCollaboration with BCBA and administrative staff in modifications to support studentsConsultation with general education staffWorking collaboratively with teachers administrators and all other school staffMaintain strict confidentiality of student records behavioral data personal information and student situations in compliance with federal and state privacy lawsMinimum Requirements:Experience in a therapeutic milieu and direct behavioral support to school personnel and knowledge preferredABA training is preferred - candidate must understand child development and the impact of emotional behavioral and learning disabilitiesPrior experience in crisis intervention/prevention such as Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) Safety Care or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training preferred; the district will provide training in the district identified intervention models (currently TCIS and Safety Care); this position requires ability to perform physical activities related to student support and monitoringPhysical Requirements:Ability to supervise and ensure student safety in various environmentsCapacity to physically assist and redirect students as neededAbility to implement crisis intervention techniques including physical interventions as a last resort when student or staff safety is at riskStamina to respond quickly to emergency situations and maintain alertness throughout the school dayAbility to participate in mandatory safety training and maintain required certificationsReasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals to perform essential functions.
