Position Description:
Under the supervision of the Hospitality Coordinator the Hospitality Assistant is responsible for providing assistance to the Hospitality Department in the planning and execution of seminary events.
Part-time (10-15 hours a month) depending on the seminary event schedule with January and May as the busiest months.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage and communicate with staff or outside vendors serving as the on-site or day of event manager
Assist the Hospitality Coordinator with preparation for events: gathering packing and transporting supplies
Set and strike event venues:
Based on the event requirements (headcount menu supplies room diagram) provided by the Hospitality Coordinator gather the needed equipment and supplies and setup the event space
Setup the event space with any audio-visual lighting or technical requirements (media cart setup thermostat adjustments)
Setup the event space with necessary linens dcor and catering equipment
Prepare any food or pick up/receive food for the event (portion food make coffee arrange food on serving vessels)
Once food is ready/received finish the final setup/food presentation for the start of the event (curate refreshments on buffet tables ensure proper supplies and equipment are ready)
Clean and return equipment to original storage location in a timely manner (washing dishes cleaning linens unpacking supplies)
Return any remaining supplies to original storage in a timely manner
Assist in monitoring and stocking inventory items
Qualifications:
Profession of Christian faith
Ability to communicate effectively and promptly both orally and in writing
Accuracy and careful attention to detail
Excellent organizational and time-management skills
Sound judgment and the ability to work independently
Reliable vehicle (preferably large enough for food transport)
Ability to lift 40 pounds
Event management or execution experience a plus but not
Catering or food service experience a plus but not
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with individuals from faculty staff students and other WSC constituents
Willingness and ability to provide excellent customer service to all WSC constituents
Desire and ability to represent WSC in a positive and professional manner and to be able to articulate the confessional beliefs of the seminary
