Description
US Heart and Vascular is in need of a Medical Assistant to join our team at Pima Heart and Vascular in Tucson AZ to assist Provider(s) in daily operations of his/her clinic and patient care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interviews patients measures vital signs such as pulse rate temperature blood pressure weight and height and records information in patients charts.
- Work with the medical assistant tech to ensure patients are roomed in a timely manner
- Operates electrocardiograph (EKG) treadmill and other equipment to administer routine diagnostic test
- Fill out testing orders per physician
- Send out prescriptions per physician orders
- Orders & explain testing to the patient
- Gives injections or treatments and performs routine laboratory tests
- Set up procedures with hospitals to include filling out hospital form and faxing them back
- Review procedure and instructions with the patient
- Escort patients to check-out
- Check voicemails & enter messages into NextGen
- Return patient calls/tasks even if only to acknowledge receipt of the voicemail and that an answer is being sought
- Ensure that charts have been checked and the proper paperwork is included
- Travel required Prepare bag for travel to satellite clinics
- Safeguard the privacy of patient health information
- Other related duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Completion of a Medical Assistant program
- Cardiac Experience is preferred but not required
- Knowledge in medical terminology
