Execute daily payroll operations for Canadian and US employees ensuring accuracy and adherence to established timelines.
Conduct detailed payroll audits including reviews of terminations timesheets special payments and adjustments.
Process and verify all additional pay components such as allowances garnishments and loans.
Verify and process remittances to government agencies unions and other entities (income tax health insurance WCB/CSST etc.).
Manage the payroll group mailbox providing timely and accurate responses to inquiries.
Creation of new payroll pay components.
Oversee the complete month-end process;
Train payroll analyst staff at various locations to ensure effective payroll processing
Payroll System Maintenance:
Maintain and update payroll system data including union rates vacation rates and payouts.
Administer the time and attendance system (excluding configuration).
Team Supervision and Development:
Monitor team member performance provide feedback and conduct performance reviews.
Identify and address training needs and provide coaching to team members.
Delegate tasks and manage deadlines to optimize team productivity.
Customer and Team Support:
Provide excellent customer service to managers and employees resolving payroll-related inquiries.
Provide direct support to the Senior payroll manager and handle tasks as requested.
Contribute to year-end payroll activities.
Associates or Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in payroll processing with supervisory experience preferred.
Strong knowledge of US and Canadian payroll regulations and compliance.
Proficiency in payroll systems and time and attendance systems.
Excellent auditing and analytical skills.
Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
