CMS ATHLETICS
The Joint CMS Athletics Physical Education and Recreation Program is comprised of student-athletes from Claremont McKenna Harvey Mudd and Scripps Colleges and offers a comprehensive program of regular physical education intramural recreational club and varsity sports. CMS varsity teams compete in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) as a member of NCAA Division III. The Program is comprised of 21 varsity sports (10 mens 11 womens) and supports a student population of over 3200 and a student-athlete population of approximately 530.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Strength and Conditioning Coach assesses motivates educates and trains athletes with the primary goal of improving sport performance. Reporting to the Director of Strength and Conditioning the Strength and Conditioning Coach independently oversees sport-specific testing sessions designs and implements safe and effective strength training and conditioning programs and guides athletes in nutrition and injury prevention for assigned teams. Recognizing their area of expertise is separate and distinct from the medical dietetic athletic training and sports coaching fields Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialists consult with and refer athletes to these professionals when appropriate.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Reporting to the Director of Strength and Conditioning the Strength and Conditioning Coach works independently and collaboratively to perform the following essential duties and responsibilities:
Regular attendance is considered an essential job function; the inability to meet attendance requirements may preclude the employee from retaining employment.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS & SKILLS:
EDUCATION: A Bachelors degree in a related field or commensurate education and experience is required. A Masters degree in a related field is preferred.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of 2 years of collegiate strength and conditioning experience is required.
LICENCES: Must be NSCA CSCS or CSCCa SCCC Certified. Must maintain annual continuing education. First Aid/ CPR/ AED certification is required. A valid drivers license is required to drive College-owned vehicles and the ability to be insured under the Colleges authorized drivers policy.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Individual must possess knowledge skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed with or without reasonable accommodation using some other combination of knowledge skills and abilities.
REQUIRED HOURS: The regular hours for this full-time position are at least 40 hours per week up to 7 days per week on a variable schedule. Holiday weekend and evening work hours will be required. Travel may be required. Regular hours may vary due to the needs of the College or division. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy (up to 50 lbs.). Must be physically able to demonstrate exercises as needed.
SALARY RANGE: The anticipated salary range is $62920 to $64000 per year. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
GROOMING AND APPEARANCE: Employees are expected to wear attire that is appropriate to the office or department in which they work.
BACKGROUND CHECK: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a full consumer background check. Certain positions will require the successful completion of a post-offer physical agility test.
