Job Description

Needed for the 2025-26 school year: A full-time certified Educational Aide at Covington ISD in Covington Texas (Deadline: Until filled). This is an at-will non-contract position on a 10-month basis. Please complete an application for service and support personnel and email it to Lisa Nivens at Job DescriptionThis document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.Job DescriptionPrimary Purpose:Supervise students assigned to in-school suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintain a highly structured and orderly environment. Work under the general supervision of the principal on a daily basis. Also serve as a substitute teacher when needed.Education/Certification:Associates degree two years of study at an institution of higher learning or have met formal academic assessment as required by the No Child Left Behind ActValid educational aide III certification*Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to work well with childrenAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience:Two years experience working with childrenMajor Responsibilities and Duties:Instructional Support with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom classroom teachers regarding student collect and check student assignments for individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.Student Management student behavior and administer discipline according to board policies administrative regulations and Individual Education Plans (IEP). student attendance and discipline referrals according to established students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.Other9.. Maintain in professional development programs faculty meetings and special events as district safety protocols and emergency procedures.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneMental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment.Posture:Frequent standing; occasional kneeling squatting bending and twisting Motion: Frequent walkingLifting:Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds); controlling student behavior through physical restraint lifting and moving classroom equipmentEnvironment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun heat cold and inclement weather); exposure to noise; exposure to biological hazards (bacteria communicable diseases)Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
