Software Development Manager, Kuiper Networking Software

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the software applications and services for an advanced global internet connectivity service The objective of the Kuiper SIM Foundations team is to design implement and operate globally available distributed systems geared towards giving Kuiper the ability to operate within realistic virtual Kuiper environments at scale. Youll lead teams to build systems using the latest AWS technologies leveraging best-in-industry software engineering practices.

As the Software Development Manager of this team you will guide a group of engineers in addressing these challenges while also focusing on team development and upholding a high standard for delivery quality.

- Maintain close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align software development with overall company goals.
- Monitor and ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices in software development.
- Provide regular performance feedback and career development guidance to team members.

- 3 years of engineering team management experience
- 7 years of engineering experience
- 8 years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing certification and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams

- Experience in communicating with users other technical teams and senior leadership to collect requirements describe software product features technical designs and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting hiring mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills and make them more effective product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
