Job Summary:

The Inventory Controller is responsible for the accurate tracking reconciliation and handling of finished goods inventory within the warehouse. This role supports daily operations by performing cycle counts updating inventory systems and investigating discrepancies resulting from production or system errors. The Inventory Controller partners closely with operations planning and warehouse teams to ensure inventory integrity and product availability. Ideal candidates are detail-oriented ERP-proficient and thrive in a fast-paced physically active environment.

Storage Environment: 55% Regular visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery noise varying temperatures humidity and wet conditions.

Office Environment: 30% of the work is conducted in an office setting involving time spent on computer research project management and communication with team members and stakeholders. Intermittent participation in both in-person and virtual meetings including project updates strategy sessions and presentations to management and stakeholders.

Production Environment: 10% Visits to the production areas will involve exposure to machinery noise varying temperatures humidity and wet conditions.

Travel: 5% Occasional travel for training meetings conferences etc.

Schedule: Monday through Friday 5am to 1pm or as otherwise negotiated prior to start. Evenings weekends and holidays may be required occasionally to support critical operational events.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Inventory Accuracy & Control. Conduct regular physical inventory counts audits and full inventory events. Reconcile system records with physical counts to ensure accuracy. Investigate root cause of the discrepancies and provide corrective and preventative actions to resolve immediate and longer-term. Maintain accurate records of finished goods inventory including quantities lot numbers and locations. Provide training on inbound or outbound processes to expand inventory accuracy impact. Identify and document obsolete damaged or excess inventory; assist in proper disposition and adjustment entries.
  2. System & Process Ownership. Execute inventory transactions such as adjustments transfers and holds with attention to traceability and system accuracy. Follow and help improve standard inventory control procedures to support consistency reduce shrink and ensure regulatory compliance. Assist with inventory related internal audits and root cause analysis to support continuous improvement.
  3. Cross-Functional Coordination. Partner with production and planning teams to validate inventory availability and resolve issues that impact scheduling or order fulfillment. Communicate inventory risks aging stock or shortages to appropriate stakeholders to support proactive decision making. Collaborate with warehouse personnel to ensure correct staging storage and handling of finished goods.
  4. Support & Continuous Improvement. Participate in process improvement initiatives related to inventory flow space utilization or traceability. Support onboarding or training of peers in inventory control practices or systems usage as needed.

Qualifications:

  1. Experience in inventory control logistics or a similar role within a manufacturing or distribution environment with a strong understanding of inventory management practices and techniques.
  2. Proficiency in MS Office ERP and WMS or other inventory management systems.
  3. Forklift trained with demonstrated ability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently.
  4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  6. Knowledge of and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements related to inventory management.

Working Conditions:

  1. Must be able to frequently stand/walk bend/flex grip/reach/lift/pull with both hands handle material 30 pounds independently from floor-to-waist waist-to-shoulder shoulder-to-overhead and push/pull/carry in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment with temperature ranges between -20 and 75 degrees F which may be damp wet humid slippery or moderately loud.
  2. Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as steel toed boots coats coveralls gloves of various materials hard hats knitted caps hair nets ear plugs/muffs hearing protection or safety glasses.
  3. Use of motor skills to safely drive heavy machinery in tight quarters.
  4. Must be comfortable sharing office space with other professionals and performing repetitive computer-based tasks. This includes extended periods of sitting reaching with hands and arms and using input devices such as a keyboard mouse and other tools. The role requires maintaining focus on detailed screen work for prolonged durations including tasks such as data analysis report preparation and troubleshooting operational issues.
  5. Must be able to communicate through various channels including phone email face-to-face and videoconferencing effectively building and presenting organized data and plans to executive leadership internal and external groups of various sizes and key stakeholders.
  6. Ability to work around ingredients and/or finished products containing food allergens.
  7. Specific visual abilities include near and far vision color perception and the ability to adjust focus.
