Job Description
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Vale of Glamorgan to assist with the appointment of a Driver - Environment & Housing on a 4-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 12.21 - 15.48 per hour

Summary:
The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a reliable and professional Driver to join the Environment & Housing team within the Operational & Support Services division. This role involves the safe and efficient transportation of personnel equipment and materials as required by service demands. The ideal candidate will play a vital part in supporting daily operations that contribute to environmental services and housing functions ensuring community services are delivered effectively and on time.
Responsibilities:
- Operate Council vehicles in a safe efficient and courteous manner in line with road traffic laws and Council procedures.
- Transport staff tools equipment refuse or other items related to Environment & Housing services.
- Conduct daily vehicle checks maintain cleanliness and report any defects promptly.
- Assist with loading and unloading items ensuring secure transportation.
- Complete route sheets vehicle logs and basic paperwork as required.
Requirements:
- Full clean UK driving licence Category B essential; Category C1/C (LGV) desirable.
- Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) preferred for LGV roles.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE level or equivalent desirable).
- Proven experience in a similar driving or logistics role preferably within a local authority or public service setting.
- Familiarity with vehicle checks defect reporting and basic record-keeping.
- Experience in working in a team-based operational environment.
- Knowledge of safe manual handling techniques and workplace health and safety.
