We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in Power Systems control and optimization for our research center in Raleigh North Carolina. As a scientist in the global Hitachi Energy Research organization you will propose and lead cutting-edge research projects to push the boundaries of knowledge and technology for Hitachi Energys future products and services.

Your Responsibilities

  • Propose contribute to and lead R&D projects in power and energy systems
  • Collaborate with a global team to identify and solve real-world challenges for our customers.
  • Propose and work on novel ideas and concepts for the next generation of power systems.
  • Network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise.
  • Collaborate with external partners including universities startups and vendors.
  • Disseminate your results in scientific publications patent applications and technical reports.

Your Background

  • Ph.D. degree in either Electrical Engineering or ISE/Operation research degree with power system application focus
  • Power system operation principles and issues
  • Power system modeling AC and DC grids including DER and IBR modeling.
  • Market based system operation.
  • Constrained optimization theory and tools for Linear Programming (LP) mixed integer programming (MIP) Non-Linear Programming (NLP) Non-Linear Mixed Integer Programming (NLMIP)
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills team player attitude initiative and creativity.
  • Fluency in English both written and spoken.
  • Fluency in common programming languages like Python or C Matlab
