RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential Functions
Leadership & Compliance
- Adheres to all organizational policies and applicable laws ensuring ethical and legal standards are consistently met.
- Coaches and encourages staff to embody the mission and vision of the Center through both action and example.
- Serves as a role model by demonstrating a strong work ethic and professional conduct.
- Completes special needs reports by reviewing health forms supervising nursing staff and coordinating with parents dietary services Camp Operations and Food Services.
Medical Systems Oversight
- Ensure the safety hygiene emotional welfare and security of participants meeting or exceeding standards expected of a responsible caregiver.
- Review incoming medical forms for accuracy and completeness; notify relevant departments of special needs or requests in a timely and professional manner.
- Assess participant fitness for camp attendance and ensure all required documentation is received and processed.
- Communicate effectively with parents guardians and chaperones regarding medical needs and accommodations.
- Develop and coordinate individualized care plans using nursing judgment including accommodations for special devices equipment or nightly decampment.
- Interpret and apply ADA requirements to ensure participant safety and accessibility.
- Determine necessary activity restrictions or clearances based on health history.
- Review and ensure clinical action plans are received and appropriately implemented in the clinic.
- Disseminate clinic medication guidelines to parents guardians and chaperones.
- Collaborate with the Dietician to address food allergies and dietary restrictions.
- Respond promptly to parent inquiries to ensure clarity on how SPACECAMP will accommodate specific medical conditions.
- Maintain confidentiality and meet or exceed professional standards for handling medical records and documentation.
- Coordinate with the Director of Nursing to ensure comprehensive safety measures for all campers.
- Fulfill all tasks and assignments accurately and on time meeting the expectations of the Director of Nursing.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education
B.S. Degree in Nursing preferred and Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Must have valid Alabama Nursing License.
Required Experience
A minimum of 3 - 4 years of nursing experience in a clinic setting with a focus on pediatric and adolescent practice with some supervisory experience (1-2 years) required OR an equivalent combination of education or experience. Experience in patient health history review and medical conditions/disorders analysis is a plus. Must have excellent verbal communication skills to interact effectively with guests and employees.
Physical Requirements
This position has the following special requirements:
- Walking climbing (stairs) to access other buildings and departments.
- Sitting for long periods of time (4-6 hours).
- Carrying lifting boxes and supplies weighing up to 30lb waist high.
- Bending kneeling to store retrieve supplies.
- Sight reading feeling wrist movements to administer medications and first aid to operate computer terminal to examine patient condition.
- Talking hearing to communicate with patients parents and employees in person and over the telephone.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Environmental Factors
This position involves working in a climate controlled clinical environment. This position works in a confined area with other employees. This position deals extensively with small children and parents guests and employees. This position is subject to the hazards of the profession.
Expected Hours of Work: M-F 7am-3pm
