Job Description

Overview

JOB SUMMARY: To provide respiratory therapy for neonates who are in need of such in order that their breathing may be brought to a level which may provide sufficient oxygenation and enable the neonate to breathe without the aid of therapy or ventilator support. The neonatal respiratory care practitioner is expected to be able to use sound professional judgment in relaying patient status and needs to the medical staff and the ability to follow through with physicians orders. In addition the NICU respiratory care practitioner II & III is expected to be able to intubate babies when the necessity arises.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE TRAINING

  1. High school graduate or equivalent. Graduate of a 2 year AMA approved Respiratory Care Program with a minimum of 6 months care experience and with a state license. A certified neonatal respiratory care practitioner with previous experience current BCLS and NRP certificate.

-OR-

  1. Graduate of a 1 year AMA approved Respiratory Care Program with 1 year critical care experience and with a state license. Certification in neonatal respiratory care with previous experience.

--OR-

  1. Registered or certified respiratory care practitioner with the National Board for Respiratory Care with a state license. Certification in neonatal respiratory care with previous experience.
