Job Duties
Job Summary - The position of Deputy Clerk (Grade 8) with the Prince George Combined District Court is assigned operational responsibilities in a fast paced high-volume office with frequent deadlines. Ensures courts instructions are executed and legal documents are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. Applicant must have a desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities - Duties include but are not limited to providing support in the courtroom ensuring courts instructions are executed preparing detailed court documents in accordance with established guidelines and appropriate policies and automated case management system data entry.
Duties will also include assessing and receipting fines and cost as well as scanning documents answering telephone calls and assisting the public at the front counter. Must have the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing and to respond and interact with the public attorneys and other agencies effectively. The best candidate should be detail oriented with the ability to work independently and as a team member.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required. Applicant must have a strong work ethic organizational skills be detail-oriented can manage priorities be able to work independently as well as with a team and be flexible with assignments. Applicant must have the ability to deliver a high degree of tact and diplomacy for customer interaction in person as well as over the phone. Job requires being able to stand/sit for hours and being able to lift and bend to retrieve files. Advanced knowledge of office automation systems and computer software required. Applicant must work under pressure and have reliable attendance.
Additional Considerations
The most competitive applicants will have court experience and knowledge of the court/criminal justice system.
