The team

Our Governance Risk and Controls Advisory team provides strategic risk consulting and internal audit services to our clients which include health services not-for-profit corporate financial services and local government sectors.

Our reviews are a mix of both on site and remote fieldwork producing high-quality reports to document our findings. By understanding our clients systems objectives risks control frameworks and regulatory environments you will assist AFS in delivering a valuable product to improve the clients risk profile.

The role

As a Senior Risk Consultant key responsibilities include:

  • Participating in the development of risk-based internal audit plans.
  • Executing internal audit procedures and ensuring the successful delivery of internal audit projects within defined scope timeframe and budget.
  • Participating in the planning & scoping of internal audit projects.
  • Providing guidance and support to risk consultants offering advice on internal audit methodologies techniques and best practice.
  • Collaborating with key stakeholders to ensure internal audit activities align with client goals and priorities.
  • Preparing internal audit reports including findings risk root cause and recommendations supporting the communication of results to key stakeholders.
  • Contributing to and supporting risk assessments to identify potential areas of risk.
  • Building and maintaining effective working relationships with key stakeholders and providing guidance on risk management and control related matters to clients.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Proven experience in internal audit risk management process improvement and governance practices.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly with individuals across all levels of an organisation.
  • Extensive experience writing reports observations and communicating results & recommendations to varied audiences.
  • The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues clients and key stakeholders.
  • A commitment to enhancing team capabilities through the provision of guidance support and advice.
  • An Accounting degree or financial background (is desirable but not essential).
