Literacy Support Mentor Greater London September 2025 Start

Location: Greater London
Contract: September 2025 July 2026 (Term-Time Only)
Pay: 444.00 per week (PAYE)
Interviews: June/July 2025

Are you a high-achieving graduate from a writing-heavy subject like English History or Politics and keen to gain experience as a Literacy Support Mentor this September

A welcoming secondary school in Greater London is seeking a Literacy Support Mentor to work with pupils needing targeted help with reading writing and comprehension. This role suits graduates with strong literacy skillswhether from English History Politics or similar backgroundswho are passionate about education.

As a Literacy Support Mentor youll support students with EAL mild SEND or below age-related reading levels. Youll work alongside teachers and the SENCo delivering tailored interventions and reinforcing key concepts in both mainstream and small-group settings. Youll be matched with classes that align with your academic strengths whether through your degree A-Levels or tutoring experience. This Literacy Support Mentor position offers valuable experience ahead of teacher training educational psychology or other school-based careers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Supporting pupils in your specialist subject across KS2KS4
  • Delivering 1:1 and small group sessions to reinforce classroom learning
  • Adapting resources to meet diverse learning needs
  • Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers

Were looking for:

  • A 2:1 or above in English History Politics Classics or similar
  • Strong literacy and communication skills
  • A genuine interest in education
  • Full academic year availability

Please note: Applicants must hold a UK undergraduate degree. We cannot accept overseas degrees (even with a UK Masters). Sponsorship is not available.
