The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is a non-Government Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of community programs and has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
SWAMS is seeking a passionate and experienced Disability Services Manager to lead and enhance our disability support programs ensuring culturally safe high-quality services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across the South West region.
About the Role
As the Disability Services Manager you will play a pivotal role in leading SWAMS disability services in alignment with NDIS/NDIA requirements Work Health Safety (WHS) legislation and SWAMS strategic goals. You will be responsible for operational excellence stakeholder engagement and service innovation ensuring our clients receive responsive respectful and empowering support.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strategic relationships with NDIS NDIA government agencies and Aboriginal organisations.
- Advocate for culturally safe and inclusive disability services.
- Provide expert advice to the Director of Community Services on disability-related policies programs and legislation.
- Lead the implementation of NDIS Participant Choice and Control including policy development and client assessment.
- Ensure services meet quality standards and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee planning and governance processes to support effective service delivery.
- Support strategic planning reporting and budgeting for the Disability Services Team.
- Conduct regular systems reviews and manage audits to identify and address service gaps.
- Contribute to community engagement strategies to maintain client participation and service excellence.
Essential Aspects
- Extensive experience in operational management within the Disability or Community Services sector including governance compliance auditing strategic planning and reporting continuous improvement and human resource management.
- Strong understanding of current disability and NDIS-related issues particularly as they impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and deliver timely inclusive and solution-focused leadership.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to represent SWAMS professionally across diverse settings.
- High-level networking advocacy and influencing capabilities to drive positive outcomes for clients and the organisation.
- Sound knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to support evidence-based decision-making.
