Job Description

Shift 2 (United States of America)

Essential Functions

  • Grinds metal objects such as castings billets machine parts and sheet metal subassemblies to smooth or rough-finish objects to specifications

  • Removes excess metal scratches or burs by feeding metal pieces against rotating grinding wheel

  • Examines and measures work piece for conformance to standards

  • Selects and mounts abrasive wheels of different grit size to grinder to obtain specified finish on work piece

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must be willing to learn

  • Mechanical aptitude

  • Blueprint reading ability required

  • Precision measuring tools required

  • Dependable honest quick learner effective communication skills and team player

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including any days shift and weekends to ensure that the customer demand is met

Competencies

  • Understand and follow basic verbal and written instructions

  • Possess basic mathematical skills: addition subtraction multiplication and division

  • Prior experience grinding equipment machines and products required

  • Utilize power tools and various equipment as needed to perform duties

Work Environment

  • Employee may be regularly exposed to moving equipment mechanical parts in motion risk of shock and other hazards associated with a manufacturing environment such as overhead cranes welding machining painting etc.

Physical Demands

  • May involve some repetitive motions

  • May be required to stand for long periods of time

  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds

  • May also engage in frequent bending stooping squatting pushing and pulling of parts and part containers

  • Do to the open environment of the warehouse must be able to work in various weather and temperature conditions to include extreme heat humidity and cold
