Job Description

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develops and implements Energy supply strategies:
Develops and proposes the energy supply strategy to meet the physical energy needs and decarbonization objectives of Primary Production plants in collaboration with the subsidiaries for whom the strategy is developed. Analyses energy markets and price trends regulatory developments potential counterparties and their offers. Analyzes and considers the impact of the proposed energy supply strategy on the index balance Energy Contribution and CO2 emissions to determine energy risks. Presents the proposed strategy for internal validation and subsequently implements it.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Analyses energy markets and price trends regulatory developments potential counterparties and their offers. Analyzes and considers the impact of the proposed energy supply strategy on the index balance Energy Contribution and CO2 emissions to determine energy risks. Presents the proposed strategy for internal validation and subsequently implements it.

Manages Energy risk:

Ensures that the groups energy management policies are observed and that the relevant approvals from the Air Liquide Energy Risk Committee (ENRISK) committee are in place. Develops the submission for the ENRISK committee in collaboration with the entity for which the request is prepared and presented by its General Manager. Collaborates with the WBL (Energy team in AL Head Office) to ensure the strategies meet the requirements. Prepares the periodical decarbonization review to be presented to representatives of Group Sustainability department.

Manages (renewable) energy contracts:

Manages existing contracts (regulated and deregulated markets) and negotiate new contracts for (renewable) energy supply and/or environmental attributes (e.g. renewable energy certificates). In negotiating these contracts collaborates closely with Local Cluster and/or Group Legal and Finance teams to ensure that contract terms are aligned to Air Liquides requirements and risk appetite. For existing energy contracts manage the relation with the supplier. Tracks the CO2 emissions and progress in relation to the decarbonization objectives of the Group. Prepares and communicates the monthly report on the structure of energy contribution (EC). Involved in preparing the periodical budget (target) by supplying energy price assumptions and participating in setting the objectives of energy cost reduction projects.

Supports Business Development:

Helps subsidiary business development managers to produce price indexation formulas to cover production energy costs assess CO2 impact and decarbonization possibilities for new projects provide support on energy regulations and protect Air Liquide against energy price fluctuations by observing the groups energy policies. Together with commercial teams interface with customers in order to identify value creation and decarbonization opportunities. Brings expertise in evaluating energy risks in new projects and makes recommendations on managing those risks. Shares expertise with counterparts in other subsidiaries of the Air Liquide group. Works with Commercial managers to optimize the energy purchases for existing accounts.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualifications include: Bachelor of Commerce Engineering or a related degree Master of Business Administration or Master of Science are an asset

  • Knowledge: Computerized systems Google suite verbal and written communication skills bilingual financial skills strong negotiation and sales skills

  • Training: Derivative financial instruments risk management and economic analysis

  • Work Experience: 10 years of industrial experience with 5 years of experience with electricity and/or natural gas contracts. Good knowledge of customers and current markets
