Job Duties:

Under general supervision of Mental Health Administrator 6 & with required thorough knowledge of custodial procedures manages the Housekeeping Department & the employees by establishing standards & procedures for assigned staff. Develops writes formulates & implements policies & procedures for the Housekeeping Department (i.e. minimum staffing strip/waxing floors area cleaning projects) review & updates as necessary; in-service staff on policies & procedures; plans work schedules & assignments; schedules & assigns specific projects (i.e. strip/wax floors). Supervises staff (i.e. approves/disapproves leave requests; timesheets; performance evaluations); conducts staff meetings serves as liaison between facility & vendors; serves as liaison between housekeeping staff and other departments; represent & acts for the Building Maintenance Supervisor at meetings with vendors (i.e. environmental issues cleaning products & supplies); ensures the Housekeeping Department operates within allowed budget & meets department budget requirements.

Establishes & administers a preventive maintenance program for housekeeping to prepare for annual surveys; inspects resident areas to determine needed repairs & cleaning; inspects resident furniture to determine a replacement or repair; initiates work orders for needed repairs; reviews recommendations &/or deficiencies for housekeeping rom surveys (i.e. internal Medicaid licensure) & takes corrective action; accompanies survey personnel on inspections; implements & monitors quality assurance in the department schedules maintenance & repair of equipment (i.e. buffer striper): organizes facility for meeting conferences & in-services (ensures rooms are clean provides chairs tables).

Assists with interviews & training new housekeeping staff; provides orientation to all new employees regarding housekeeping/contract laundry policies/procedures; inventories & orders supplies for department contacts vendor write request to purchase obtain bids for jobs (i.e. special project carpets); schedules in-services with vendors for staff (i.e. use of cleaning products) to update & improve quality of service provided by staff; other duties as assigned (i.e. develop monitor & analyze cost budget).
