A quality control associate scientist works to ensure all media products meet predefined quality standards before they are released for use in laboratories clinical settings or industrial applications. This includes testing the raw materials in-process products and finished products to ensure a high quality of consistency and performance according to regulatory and industry standards.
Responsibilities:
Carry out Quality Control Testing in accordance with Oxoid test specifications and methods ensuring testing is carried out and in line with the laboratory and company Quality system
Completing OOS reports and assisting with investigations
Training records recorded and maintained
Plan track and control the progress of products under test and provide accurate availability dates
Alerting senior personnel of product problems/failures and assist with further investigation
Ensure all test results are recorded within the SAP Quality Management System
Cleaning waste management consumable replenishing and use of autoclaves
Build and maintain effective working relationships to ensure robust cross-functional working with key collaborators (including QC Manager QC Team Leader QA Manufacturing Sciences Production and Planning) to ensure targets are met
Taking direction from your line manager and Lead Scientists regarding prioritization of finished product and raw material testing
Engage in continuous improvement using PPI lean methodology including standard work and tier meetings. Use PPI processes to address problems and improve departmental and business processes
Role-model the Thermo Fisher 4I Values and use as a day-to-day guide in decision making
To fulfill the responsibilities of the position as defined in the Oxoid Health Safety and Environmental policies and associated Codes of Practice
Minimum Qualifications:
Level 6 education qualification or equivalent in a Microbiology or related subject (Study towards level 6 or QBE will also be considered)
Effective planning and organisation
Decision Quality - High attention to detail and a systematic approach
Results - Delivering consistent results by being willed to take action demonstrating interpersonal agility planning efficiently and setting priorities.
Good numeracy skills and ability to read and follow methods / SOPs accurately
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant experience of QC testing within a microbiology laboratory environment
Composure Able to remain calm and work methodically in a fast pace environment
Significant experience in using SAP and MS Office software packages
Problem Solving - Effective in technical and planning troubleshooting to root cause
Communicates openly crafting collaborative relationships by developing strong work relationships displaying integrity and building trust across functions
Experience in basic laboratory skills and techniques (pipetting swabbing streaking pouring plates etc).
