As a key member of Caminos Finance Team the Finance Associate supports the financial operations of the organization with a focus on interpreting financial data ensuring regulatory and funder compliance and improving the financial literacy of departments across the organization.
This role is deeply collaborative the successful candidate will review grant proposals analyze departmental budgets and partner with program and operational leaders to strengthen financial stewardship. With a strong understanding of nonprofit funding structures and compliance this individual will work directly with the Finance Manager helping
ensure that resources are aligned with mission-driven goals.

WHAT YOULL BE DOING:
- Work with assigned Departmental Teams in developing and maintaining budgets forecasts and analyzing variances.
- Prepare analyze
and make relevant variance notes on internal and external financials reports for Leadership and other Stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations GAAP accounting standards and best practices in the industry.
- Ability to read and interpret negotiated contracts to ensure compliancy.
- Process Bank Reconciliations
- Explore AI opportunities optimize use of Excel features and formulas in report templates ensure processes are equitable.
- Extract EWP billing data from a Client Management Software
(EMHware) to ensure billing accuracy identify
billing gaps work with Quality team to correct data obtain billing approvals and provide to Practicing Professional 1
- Finance for issuance of Invoice.
- Works within standardized reporting formats to eliminate
data entry errors and ensure the information is readable and meaningful to the specific departments using it.
- Development and monitoring of annual Cashflow to ensure sufficient funds on hand to meet obligations.
- Regularly meet with assigned departmental team(s) understanding programs pressures and issues currently impacting them.
- Based on understanding of negotiated Funding Contract highlight issues or concerns the stakeholder might have with regards to funding spend. Work with departmental head around proposed budget transfer changes between approved funding lines and approach with the funder around the change. Prepare any paperwork related to the change.
- Participate in financial review of funding applications ensuring proposed budget aligns with Agency standards. Understand the impact of what the successful application would have on the Agency Budget. Gather read and understand Contracts and financial reporting requirements to ensure they align with what we report. Build and maintain a listing of current contract requirements.
- Gather and compile data and ensure reporting timelines are met.
- Support team with responses to financial related questions.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends variances and potential risks making recommendations for improvements.
- Analyze costs and determine risk (if any).
- Analyze monthly expenses determine eligible costs and recognize revenue based on analysis.
- Work with assigned Departmental Teams in developing and maintaining budgets forecasts and analyzing variances.
- Preparation of internal and external financials reports for Leadership and other Stakeholders.
- Cross-trained in other Finance roles with the ability to provide backup when/where needed.
- Be proactive use downtime to review process and identify areas of improvement or ways to automate processes.
- Meet all Financial Reporting timelines to ensure all applications and reports are filed on time. This might mean flexing hours of work.
- Other duties as assigned by Manager.
WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR:
- College diploma in Accounting Finance Business or a related field or equivalent of 35 years experience in a Finance department
- Excellent communication skills and comfort with leading conversations about financial performance
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and commonly used accounting software
- High attention to detail ability to work independently and strong organizational skills
- Understanding of confidentiality and adherence to ethical and financial standards
ARE THERE BONUS POINTS
- Demonstrated experience in a nonprofit or funder-driven environment
- Strong skills in interpreting financial reports and connecting them to operational realities
- Knowledge of grant budgeting financial compliance and funding proposal review processes would be an asset

- This is a full-time permanent position working 37.5 hours per week

- Wage: The hourly rate for this position is $23.98 - $33.86.
