Summary:
This position provides project coordination participant training and participant support services to ensure TQIP clinical standards are correctly and uniformly interpreted by program participants to best inform quality improvement initiatives within hospitals. Primarily this position provides technical and project management expertise related to the development and maintenance of the National Trauma Data Standard (NTDS) clinical definitions and serves as the lead for related clinical participant service and training requirements.
This exempt position will report to the Senior Program Manager Clinical Data Standards and Training in the Division of Research and Optimal Patient Care. It is based in our Chicago office and is a hybrid role: 3 days per week in the office/2 days per week remote.
The anticipated salary range for this position is $73700 - 78000 (commensurate with related experience).
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and maintenance of the NTDS clinical standard including the operational management of the annual execution of clinical content audits of data element effectiveness and appropriateness and ensuring appropriate resource dissemination.
- Manage the development and implementation of training materials to support NTDS and related content initiatives via multiple mediums (written resources; training modules; special web conference sessions; in-person training via Annual Meetings).
- Design and implement a participant support framework for TQIP participants via telephone email and virtual platforms related to the NTDS data definitions data quality and data validation.
- Assist with identifying gaps in abstraction practice and opportunities for ACS TQP support and/or intervention including monitoring industry practice and engaging with trauma centers to understand gaps and opportunities.
- Support internal and external working groups by providing expert feedback for data standards and collaborate with TQP analytic staff to help translate NTDS elements for appropriate product implementation.
- Contribute enthusiastically to an environment of continual performance improvement team collaboration and service to improve care of the injured patient executed in accordance with the ACS values. Seek and promote areas of integration and alignment within Trauma Programs and across ACS activities. Pursue and welcome opportunities for evolution of responsibilities and growth in position. Create and maintain written organizational processes and procedures in support of all projects and activities handled in this program area.

Required Education and/or Experience:
- Bachelors degree or higher from an accredited college or university is required.
- At least 2-4 years of similar clinical medical registry or healthcare-related experience is required.
- Experience as a health data abstractor including clinical chart review and abstraction trauma registry or experience with clinical data standard development/maintenance in a similar domain is strongly preferred.
- Training in AIS and ICD-10 is preferred.
- Certified Specialist in Trauma Registrar (CSTR) or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) credentials are preferred.
- Customer support and training experience are preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Outlook Word Excel and PowerPoint).
