Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Upholstery Material Cutter is responsible for cutting bulk material into pieces from pre- determined patterns or instructions using powered and manual cutting devices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Operates and understands the procedures for the CNC Router for vinyl cutting.
- Lays out vinyl patterns for digitizing parts for CNC Router.
- Prepares cutting patterns by tracing material pieces and perforates lines on pattern paper or cuts to length.
- Prepares material for cutting by stacking in multiple layers and applying chalk dust to the top layer outlining the pieces to be cut or cut to length.
- Cuts material pieces needed for production by using electric knife or other manual cutting devices.
- Coordinates cutting with production schedule.
- Performs daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to cutting equipment.
- Keeps own area clean safe and hazard free.
- ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:
- Ability to distinguish shades of color
- Ability for rapid mental and muscular Depth perception
- Straight pulling
- Ability to read and coordinate paperwork with physical parts
- Ability to judge distance

INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
- Performs tasks and duties under general supervision using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures policies and practices.
