The Team
The Indigenous Cultural Program team is an exciting and vibrant group committed to making a real difference for Indigenous youth families and staff at MATC. With three passionate ICCC members a dedicated Program Coordinator and an Indigenous Elder in Residence this team is at the forefront of providing cultural programming that enriches holistic wellness practices. Their impactful work is central to bringing the Calls to Action for Truth and Reconciliation to life fostering positive change and empowerment in alignment with organizational values and the Aboriginal Policy and Practice Framework. The Role
In this role youll have the rewarding opportunity to lead individual and group cultural programming education and activities both onsite andin community while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and Indigenous Elders and Knowledge Keepers. Youll play a crucial role in enhancing cultural safety and providing enriching experiences for Indigenous youth and families within Maples programs. This position is a wonderful chance to contribute to the meaningful work of decolonizing social and health services and making a positive impact on the lives of Indigenous youth and families. We value the importance of understanding the impacts of colonization mental health challenges and the power of relational and reflective practice. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Requirements

  • Diploma in Child Youth Care Social Work Social Sciences Human Services (Human Services fields include Psychology Sociology Criminology Anthropology Early Childhood Education Indigenous studies Education Child and Youth Care and Psychiatric Nursing) or related field ANDsix (6)months of related experience*OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience* may be considered.

*Months of related experience must be in each of the following:

  • Experience working with Indigenous children and youth.
  • Experience with gathering assessing and writing reports.
  • Experience with counselling adolescents individually and in group settings.
  • Experience working directly with children and youth in a related setting.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Bachelors degree in Child Youth Care Social Work Social Sciences Human Services or related field
  • Experience delivering support services to children and youth with identified mental or behavioural health.
  • Experience with CRIS-MATC/GENERAL (CLINICAL) and/or Management Information Systems (MIS) computer systems.
  • Applicants who self-identify as First Nations Mtis or Inuit with the required combination of education and experience.
