To date our free online course and Virtual Mentorship Program have empowered 60000 educators in 150 countries. Why We Need You
The Modern Classrooms Project has a deep commitment to supporting math educatorsand we are now expanding our curriculum-aligned materials to meet the needs of secondary teachers and learners. As we adapt and build high-quality 6-12 math resources aligned with our instructional model we are looking for a Director of Math Curriculum Development (Secondary) who can lead the charge.
This role is essential to our ability to scale exceptional content for secondary (grade 6-12) classrooms. In this role youll lead a team of Curriculum Development Managers and guide the creation of high-quality standards-aligned instructional materials including videos assessments and teacher supports. Youll manage content development workflows ensure quality and accessibility and incorporate educator feedback and implementation data into ongoing improvements.
Youll also be responsible for ensuring that we hit our quarterly content development goals and that our resources reflect educator feedback and real-world implementation data. Your leadership will be essential to helping secondary teachers bring blended self-paced mastery-based learning to life in their classrooms.
What Youll Do
As Director of Math Curriculum Development (Secondary) youll report to the Senior Director of Math Curriculum & Support and collaborate closely with our Product Research Programs and Partner Engagement teams.
Your core responsibilities will include:
Curriculum Strategy & Execution
Lead the strategy and execution for all 6-12 math content development aligned with the Modern Classrooms instructional model.
Oversee the creation of comprehensive responsive curriculum unitsincluding instructional videos pacing guides formative assessments and teacher supports.
Guide the development of state-specific curriculum variants in partnership with internal teams and regional experts.
People Management & Team Leadership
Lead and support a team of Curriculum Development Managers overseeing their recruitment onboarding direct supervision performance evaluation and ongoing professional development.
Support Curriculum Development Managers in overseeing the work of contracted content creators.
Maintain strong systems for internal collaboration quality control and content review.
Project & Operational Management
- Drive project planning and timelines to ensure delivery of quarterly curriculum milestones across multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Maintain and improve team-wide systems for documentation project tracking and resource versioning.
- Troubleshoot roadblocks resolve resource gaps and escalate issues as needed.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Feedback
- Collaborate with Research and Program teams to analyze educator feedback and usage data integrating insights into iterative content improvements.
- Partner with our Partner Engagement team to support strategic initiatives tied to district and state partnerships.
- Work closely with program team members to ensure all content meets MCPs standards for content quality accessibility and clarity across all instructional resources.
Youll spend your days thinking deeply about how secondary math can come alive in student-centered classroomsand working to bring those visions to scale.

You have substantial experience developing 6th-12th grade level curriculum particularly in math with a strong understanding of effective instructional design for young learners.

- You are highly attentive to detail. You spot formatting inconsistencies catch alignment gaps and ensure the resources we publish are polished and professional.
- You care deeply about equity and access in education. You want to build materials that serve all learnersespecially those historically underserved.
It Would Also Be Helpful If:
- You have taught secondary math preferably in a setting where learners displayed a wide range of backgrounds abilities interests and needs. High school level math teaching experience is strongly preferred.
- You have experience adapting or developing secondary curriculum especially with an understanding of how to create multiple versions for different states or standards frameworks.
- You have experience with blended or mastery-based instruction.
