Reports to: Building Principal(s) / Director of Student and Family SupportJob Mission: The Longmeadow Public Schools seeks a dynamic culturally responsive English Language Education (ELE) Teacher with demonstrated experience in Massachusetts EL programming to support multilingual learners in achieving high levels of academic and linguistic success. The ELE teacher plays a critical role in ensuring access to equitable inclusive and standards-aligned instruction by collaborating with content-area educators and implementing individualized support for English Learners (ELs) in compliance with state and federal regulations including 603 CMR 14.00 and the Massachusetts DESE EL position is ideal for an educator with a deep understanding of WIDA standards SEI instructional practices and a commitment to student-centered asset-based approaches to language DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.1. PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE1.1 Continuously improve professional knowledge and practice through appropriate professional development activities; share information and knowledge with other teachers; apply the best research in the design and development of school curriculum.1.2 Maintain and incorporate the best research in instructional materials and techniques.2. PLANNING FOR INSTRUCTION2.1 Set short-term and year-long goals for curricular units based on sound principles and practices of learning.2.2 Develop and maintain lesson plans based on short-term and year-long goals and share when appropriate.3. USE OF MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT3.1 Integrate current technologies as tools to enhance instructional strategies and increase student learning.4. EFFECTIVENESS OF INSTRUCTION4.1 Promote a high level of active learning through setting high standards and clear goals and modifying instruction to help all students achieve those standards.4.2 Maintain systems of assessment and measurements which reflect progress in achieving instructional objectives.5. LEARNING ENVIRONMENT5.1 Establish an atmosphere that encourages sensitivity and respect among students and with the teacher and practices and routines which create an appropriate learning environment.5.2 Design instructional experiences in which students achieve high standards and optimize their performance by taking responsibility for their own learning.6. EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS6.1 Maintain open and effective communication with students parents staff and administration using expected professional standards.6.2 Participate actively in team/department/staff meetings.7.
