The Maine Department of Labors Apprenticeship Program team is looking for you if you enjoy working with the public want to make a difference by working with employers to determine their workforce development needs and implement registered apprenticeship programs to address them.

Primary responsibilities include:

The person hired for this position will develop update implement and monitor registered apprenticeship programs in both private industry and the public sector. They will work with Maine businesses apprentices unions and other workforce system and education partners AND will also deliver presentations workshops and informational sessions at job fairs trade shows and other public events. This position will be based at the Bangor MDOL/CareerCenter office. Work will require frequent regionally based travel and occasional statewide travel.

Minimum qualifications:

Any combination of education and/or work experience that demonstrates competency in:

Accepts responsibility for own actions and decisions. Accountable to own development including learning necessary job knowledge and associated laws rules and policies. • Planning/Organization Skills:Organizes work sets priorities and determines resource requirements; determines short- or long-term goals for self and strategies to achieve them. Using flexibility and resiliency skills appropriately and effectively adjusts work plans and priorities to changing circumstances. Monitors own progress and evaluates outcomes.

Preference will be given to those applicants:

• Experience providing information and guidance.
• Excellent communication customer service and presentation skills.
• Managing business accounts
• Curriculum development
• Experience using computer software and virtual communications platforms such as MS Teams and Zoom.
• Bilingual or multi-lingual skills in English in addition to any of the following languages: Arabic French Khmer Portuguese Somali Spanish and Vietnamese.
