Job Description

TVH is looking for a motivated Legal Counsel to join the legal team.

As Legal Counsel you will partner with the TVH business teams to achieve the strategic objectives of the company worldwide while balancing the need for legally sound and business-oriented solutions. You will be part of a legal team consisting of 7 people enabling knowledge sharing within the team brainstorming on complex matters and the possibility to gain expertise in a given field while still being able to work on a varied set of legal topics.

Your role and responsibilities:

  • Drafting reviewing and negotiating a broad range of contracts and advising the business teams on various legal matters mainly in the context of IT data (privacy) e-commerce cybersecurity and AI supplier and customer relations and other commercial transactions.

  • Setting up and implementing the required strategies frameworks and documentation to ensure that TVH is compliant with data privacy legislation.

  • Consistently reflecting on how the work of the legal team can be organized more efficiently among others by establishing templates policies effecting changes in legal or cross-departmental processes or using (tech) tools.

  • Ensuring that the legal function which today operates out of the companys headquarters in Belgium supports the business globally.

  • Liaising with external lawyers and other service providers looking for providers that can deliver excellent value for money.

  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant legal evolutions and developments applying such up-to-date knowledge on a day-to-day basis and sharing any relevant knowledge within the legal team or providing training more broadly throughout the organization.

How to succeed / Your profile:

  • Belgian Masters degree in Law.

  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in data (privacy) IT contract and commercial law excellent drafting skills and ability to summarize and communicate complex legal issues in a concise manner.

  • Real team player.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills demonstrated legal skills (combined with an ability to take a strategic view on the challenges and issues facing the business) and eager to work in a dynamic environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Fluent in Dutch and English. Good knowledge of French.
