Job Description

Primary Purpose:

TheAssistant Director of Nursing is a professional Registered Nurse who hasdeveloped managerial skills through experience and/or education and whopossesses nursing expertise in the clinical area. She/he is directlyresponsible to the Director of Nursing as she/he endeavors to maintain a safeand therapeutic environment for all residents.

Responsiblefor clinical outcomes of the facility including but not limited to these areas:

oQMmanagement

oRe-hospitalizationrates

oWoundProgram

oClinicalAt Risk

oCo-chairNutrition at Risk & Hydration program

oOverseeQuality Assurance for Nursing Outcomes

oOverseeBowell and Bladder Program

oManagementof Matrix and Census and Condition reports

oAssumesdelegated managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Director ofNursing.

oParticipatesin scheduling management for floor staff on all households

Supportsthe policies and procedures of the Nursing Service.

Participatesin committees to evaluate and improve standards of resident care.

Plansdirects and supervises all nursing care.

Collaborateswith medical staff through informal and formal meetings.

Communicatesresident conditions to the Director of Nursing.

Assistin planning organizing and directing nursing service.

Controland evaluation of nursing service in order to meet the total nursing needs ofthe resident and maintain quality of life that will fulfill the objectives ofthe facility and be in accordance with the policies set forth by the facility.

Planand participate in in-service training and orientation programs.

Makeroutine rounds to ensure residents are properly cared for.

Work hand in hand with NurseLeaders on each household to manage outcomes.

Assumes responsibility forindividual resident care when needed.

Givesnursing care as a teaching-learning device.

Planssupervises and evaluates total resident needs nursing care and progress bymaking daily rounds.

Providesassistance direction and teaching of nursing care to all nursing personnel.

Establishesworking relationships with Providers to develop coordinate and render medicaltreatment and nursing care.

Isknowledgeable in the use of medicines and in the operation of sophisticatedequipment used on the nursing units.

Supervisesand directs preparation and maintenance of residents clinical records.

Promotesprogressive approach to nursing care specific to her area of in resident health education and rehabilitation.

FollowsPlan of Care as ordered by physician.

Assignsduties to ancillary and professional personnel based on resident needs staffand unit needs.

Promotesstaff development by encouraging personnel to attend education classes andseminars.

Evaluatesindividual work performance through observation and written evaluation.

Providesfor and promotes good communication within and between the units.

Reportsequipment in need of repair completing work orders as necessary.

Continuouslyevaluates the needs and services related to nursing service and resident care.

Workswith consultants dietary pharmacist etc. as needed.

Reviewcomplaints and grievances and report to the Director of Nursing.

Manual Dexterity: Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate acomputer keyboard mouse telephone and other office equipment.

Vision: Visual acuity to read printed and electronic documentsreview reports and work on a computer monitor for prolonged periods.

Hearing: Ability to clearly hear and understand speech in personvirtually or via telephone; participate in meetings or public speakingengagements.

Speech: Clear verbal communication for effective presentationsnegotiations and interpersonal communication.

Lifting: Ability to occasionally lift and carry materials orequipment up to 50 pounds
