Health Science Instructor
JOB TITLE: Career Center Health Science Instructor
REPORTS TO: Amy Redman
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
- Teach Health Science including CNA at North Lawrence Career Center
- Topics include
- Preparing individuals to work as nursing assistants and sit for the Indiana State Department of Health CNA certification exam
- Knowledge skills and attitudes essential for providing basic care in extended care facilities hospitals and home health agencies
- Introduction to the dementia disease process and caring for patients with the diagnosis
- First Aid CPR Stop the Bleed Dementia Care and other certifications as required
- May include Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certified Patient Care Technician EKG Technician and other certifications required by the local job market
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop plan and implement curriculum and education programs in accordance with building corporation and state guidelines
- Meet the minimum standards set forth by the ISDH for Certified Nursing Assistant training and for health care workers in long-term care facilities
- Meet qualifications required by a dual credit institution to offer dual credit programming to high school students
- Establish plan and host program advisory board meetings as directed by CTE director
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of high school diploma and 5000 hours of work experience in the field with willingness and ability to pursue an Indiana Workplace Specialist educator license
- Occupational licensure completion of an apprenticeship or internship program and an accredited 2-year degree or higher in a specific certification area are preferred.
- Knowledge of content areas including industry prevalent equipment software materials procedures etc.
- Preferred applicants will hold a current CNA or RN license with the state of Indiana
- Must be willing to become certified to teach CPR First Aid and Stop the Bleed if not already certified
