Position Summary
This position is responsible for supervising up to 12 custodians working in the academic buildings on the SOU Ashland & Medford campuses. The supervisor is responsible for scheduling covering absences quality control performance evaluation customer service arranging campus event support support for inclement weather response contractor scheduling supply purchases etc. The Custodial Supervisor also coordinates work with other FMP sections including supporting SOU to achieve its sustainability goals and occasional support for capital renewal projects. This position is a part of the FMP Leadership Team. Typical work hours are currently 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. A successful supervisor must be able to: positive leadership skills and actions to encourage employee performance and encourage good work ethic and habits ability to effectively communicate in verbal & written form with staff peers and customers. with and support other supervisors to fulfill the goals and mission statement of FMP and the University including environmental sustainability and foster team decision making knowledge of BBP (Blood Born Pathogens) SDS (Safety Data Sheet) & PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) procedures knowledge of operation & use of cleaning equipment such as: vacuums extractors buffers etc. Typical Work Hours: 12:00 midnight to 8:30 a.m.
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 40 lbs. Walking Occasional stooping standing bending. The worker must be physically able to perform all assigned duties and operate assigned equipment. Work is done inside a building but does involve some outside work at times in inclement weather. Work involves the use of dangerous chemicals. Some ladder work is required. Work Conditions Ability to work with a flexible schedule. Must be willing to travel and work at various sites. Ability to work safely in an environment containing potentially hazardous electrical equipment fumes vapor gases and/or materials.
Duties
Other Duties: on campus/F.M.P. committees or projects. finishes and other custodial/bathroom materials for new or renovated construction projects custodial labor for campus events as need i.e. Commencement duties as assigned by director
Preferred Qualifications
Degree in relevant area (5) or more years experience in a managerial position working with a departmental budget knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of OSHA & DEQ practices around proper disposal of cleaning chemicals ability to resolve personnel issues scheduling work assignments of Green Cleaning Principles and Practice with teambuilding
