JOB GOAL:To work with students and specialized groups through the professional application of social work practice in the treatment of social/emotional and mental health conditions that may inhibit a students academic progress. To provide assessment diagnosis and direct services to students in consultation with the student including the family administrators teachers and other service providers. Individual will support mental health services throughout the elementary schools on an on-needed basis. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: with interventions (social/emotional). closely with students who are considered at risk and with parent/guardian explicit approval makes appropriate referrals to community resources as needed or as principals designee in matters of suspected physical or sexual abuse of as a member of the Elementary School Crisis Response as liaison to the Juvenile Court for students who might be brought before the Court for various the administration with students who avoid attending school due to social and/or emotional and consults with the Office of Special Education & Student Services and offers direct services as home visits for the purpose of gathering helpful information on a students background or for provision of direct services to the student and/or family in a crisis staff on crisis intervention and prevention physical and non-physical intervention such as CPI Safety Care group counseling and social groups as may be needed and/or direct short term/crisis counseling services for students and/or their families for a variety of social emotional behavioral and familial as liaison with outside agencies and independent all support services within the elementary schools and the elementary community should a tragedy other services appropriate to credentials that may be required by the School a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about the student as is expected of a fully licensed teacher/ readily available to students so as to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth self-understanding and an active role in interpreting the schools objectives to students parents and the community at with teachers and other staff members to familiarize them with the general range of services offered by the student personnel services department and to improve the educational prospects of individual students being with parents/guardians when related duties as directed by the Principal.
