Bethany Community School is seeking askilled and compassionateSpecial Education Behavioral Interventionistfor a one-year position during the 2025-2026 school year. This role is designed to support students with behavioral and emotional needs by providing direct services consultation and data-driven interventions. The Behavioral Interventionist will work closely with staff students families and community agencies to create positive outcomes and ensure that students have access to an appropriate educational program.

Duties and Responsibilities
- Administer score interpret and report on psycho-educational assessments including cognitive behavioral and social-emotional measures.
- Recommend individualized programming accommodations and instructional strategies to support student success
- Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop monitor and refine Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs).
- Provide short-term and ongoing counseling services to individuals and groups.
- Chair Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and Child Study Team (CST) meetings as assigned.
- Participate in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Collaborate with special education staff to establish meaningful goals effective strategies and data-based progress monitoring tools.
- Consult with staff on classroom management techniques and behavior intervention strategies to promote a safe and respectful learning environment.
- Collect and analyze behavioral data at the student classroom and school levels to inform service delivery and measure intervention outcomes.
- Deliver a range of behavioral and social-emotional interventions aimed at improving student functioning and academic engagement.
- Support the implementation of school-wide Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) and social-emotional learning (SEL) initiatives.
- Provide crisis response services
- Facilitate collaboration among educators families and community providers to address comprehensive student needs.
- Participate in school-based committees and contribute to school-wide planning and problem-solving.
- Maintain accurate confidential documentation in accordance with district policies and legal guidelines.
- Communicate regularly and effectively with families about student strengths needs progress and goals.
- Stay informed on current research and best practices in behavioral support and school psychology.
- Participate in ongoing professional learning and required training including Physical Management Training (PMT).
Education/Experience
- Valid Connecticut State Department of Education Certification (071) in School Social Work School Psychology or (065) Special Education.
- Masters Degree in Social Work School Psychology or Special Education required
- Preferred experience at the elementary level
- Familiarity with the Data Team process and Mulit-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) preferred
- Certification in Physical Management Training (PMT) or willingness to be trained and certified
- Excellent interpersonal communication collaboration and problem-solving skills
- Strong commitment to equity inclusion and social-emotional well-being of all students
