Job Description

The Assistant Camp Ranger aids in the maintenance and continual operation of the physical facilities and property at Resica Falls Scout Reservation. The position is a live-on-site hands-on position and skills such as carpentry plumbing electrical automotive and construction are vital to the success of the role. The Assistant Camp Ranger is a representative of the Cradle of Liberty Council and Scouting America to those in camp so customer service is a key trait that the candidate must possess.

Specific Duties

The Assistant Rangers specific duties include the following:

  • Operation of facilities and property
    • Know how to operate and keep all physical property and equipment including tractors and mowers in safe operating condition.
    • Be particularly alert to conditions that affect health safety sanitation and good housekeeping practices.
    • Work with Camp Ranger to establish work schedules for routine maintenance and operational procedures and order necessary supplies.
    • Cooperate closely with camp director and campmaster corps to effectively resolve questions of facility operation such as checking groups in and out issuing equipment submitting records and reports of each occupancy and related matters.
    • Assist in getting the reservation is operational on time for year-round and summer operations.
    • Assist in the operation of pools sanitary systems and water systems as outlined in the Maintenance Plan or by state or local regulations.
  • Relationships
    • Maintain harmonious relationships with local officials and government services adjoining landowners and neighboring communities.
    • Represent the council in contacts with visitors Scouters and Scouts.
    • Recruit and work with volunteers to help multiply the work that can be accomplished.
    • Maintain good housekeeping practices surrounding the rangers residence and throughout the camp property.
    • Maintain a harmonious relationship with the camp director program director and other seasonal staff.
  • Program
    • Assist with the set-up and logistics of council program and activities as directed.
    • Perform other duties as assigned

In addition to the salary since the Assistant Ranger is required to live on-site a two-bedroom house is part of the benefits package.
