Radiation OncologyKey Roles and Responsibilities:
Involved in site preparation commissioning and acceptance testing of the new radiation treatment systems.
Maintains primary responsibility for clinical radiation therapy equipment operations including workflow through the proton service.
Identifies and resolves daily operational issues related to the radiation therapy equipment aspects of patient care.
Interacts with all sections of the proton service including physicians nursing physicists and therapists to ensure smooth patient treatment delivery with technology.
Provides daily direction instruction training and supervision of various staff including physicists dosimetrists therapists residents students and radiation therapy staff based upon their level of expertise.
Ensures that the quality assurance and monitoring plans achieve the goal of ensuring the highest quality of patient care and patient safety.
Maintains knowledge of current industry standards set by professional organizations including the American College of Radiology and the American Association for Physicists in Medicine.
Develops and maintains all required and appropriate documentation for daily monthly and annual calibration.
Actively participates in the education/research program of hospital and department.
Demonstrates proficiency and competence in providing and directing patient care for all age groups including pediatric adult and geriatric patients.
Ensures that appropriate quality measures and training are in place for the safe and accurate treatment.
