Job Description

Title:Kessler Scholars Program Coordinator

Position Purpose:

The Program Coordinator supports the implementation and operational success of the Kessler Scholars Program at Bates College a cohort-based initiative for first-generation students facilitated in partnership with the Kessler Scholars Collaborative. This entry-level role is responsible for coordinating logistics tracking participation supporting program delivery and contributing to the design of student-centered programming. The position is well-suited for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in equity and inclusion student affairs and higher education program development.

Job Duties:

  • Manage logistics for all Kessler Scholars programming including space booking food orders supplies and vendor coordination.
  • Develop and disseminate event marketing materials and communications to Kessler Scholars.
  • Track participation attendance academic standing and high-impact practice engagement for all Kessler Scholars.
  • Maintain program records spreadsheets and data tools in coordination with the Director and Assistant Director.
  • Attend Kessler Scholars Collaborative meetings and support Collaborative-related activities and reporting.
  • Assist with event logistics for Peer Mentor-led activities.
  • Contribute to program design in collaboration with the Director and Assistant Director; implement initiatives with attention to student needs and inclusivity.
  • Provide event support for evening and weekend programs as needed with a flexible work schedule.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

Bachelors degree required preference for a degree in Education Management/Administration Marketing/Communications or related fields.

Experience

1 - 3 years of experience working in higher education or event planning required.

  • Effective event planning logistics and organizational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to equity inclusion access and serving the needs of a culturally and educationally diverse community.
  • Commitment to working with students of color LGBTQ students and first-generation students their families and campus support structures to facilitate their academic co-curricular and personal success and development.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and student privacy as appropriate.
  • Solid understanding of the academic and social challenges experienced by marginalized students in a college environment.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekend and evening hours as necessary.
  • Proficiency in basic data management systems computer applications and social media platforms.
  • Fluency in additional languages to English is preferred.
