Location/Division Specific Information

Position based REMOTELY in Cambridge MA area and will support the New England area. Supporting the Instruments and Enterprise Services (IES) Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific. Join our IES team within ULS brand offering coordinated solutions and services to customers.

Discover Impactful Work:

Field Service Engineers are considered remote colleagues as they commute daily to customer sites. They are provided with a fleet vehicle for travel within their service area. Some overnight travel is required for customer service and training.

In this role you will support our Laboratory Equipment (LE) division by handling repairs preventative maintenance installations and instrument qualifications. You will also advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific while managing customer relationships.

A Day in the Life:

  • Repair install and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment products including incubators centrifuges cold storage (refrigerators and freezers) and other equipment as and complete detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipment.

  • Provide onsite service training to Biomedical Engineering Technicians (BMET) or advanced operators.

  • Submit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Document daily service actions through the company work order database.

  • Maintain courteous and knowledgeable communication with customers to ensure alignment of all aspects of the service events (status cost scheduling etc.).

Keys to Success:

Education

  • Associate degree in Electronics or Engineering highly preferred.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Electronics preferred.

  • EPA Certification preferred.

  • Accredited trade school certification in HVAC/R or Electronic Technician preferred.

Experience

  • At least 3 years of experience in field service Depot repair manufacturing facilities or equivalent required servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment etc.

  • Experience in customer-facing positions preferred.

  • Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background preferred; refrigeration experience a plus

  • Experience working with basic test equipment such as DMM tachometer and temperature devices including hands-on refrigeration experience is preferred.

Knowledge Skills Abilities

  • Ability to operate computers smartphones and related software efficiently.

  • Effective interpersonal skills; ability to prioritize multiple priorities with minimal direction.

  • Ability to work independently diagnosing and solving using schematics diagrams service manuals and other technical resources.

  • Strong Customer Focus builds positive relationships and delivers customer-centric service.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs with assistance and carry 25-30 lbs continuously throughout the day.

  • Ability to drive frequently within the territory and travel overnight if required

  • Maintain a valid drivers license and safe driving record.
